On a cold winter day, I visited Sekisho-an, a calm traditional tea room, located within Biwako Culture Park and near the prefectural library. It lies away from the city center. From inside and outside of the room, you can see a great view of Japanese gardens with its small lake and its natural surrounding. Their menu is minimal, seasonal. I tried wagashi (Japanese sweet) and matcha combination for the first time. I found the tea bitter, yet the comforting aroma and its pairing with sweet was surprisingly good.
