On a cold winter day, I visited Sekisho-an, a calm traditional tea room, located within Biwako Culture Park and near the prefectural library. It lies away from the city center. From inside and outside of the room, you can see a great view of Japanese gardens with its small lake and its natural surrounding. Their menu is minimal, seasonal. I tried wagashi (Japanese sweet) and matcha combination for the first time. I found the tea bitter, yet the comforting aroma and its pairing with sweet was surprisingly good. This place isn't suited for long sessions, but is great for cultural experience with affordable prices. I think autumn might be the ideal time to visit.

わんぱく原っぱは休日となると親子連れでいっぱいですが、夕照庵を訪れる人はわずかでひっそりとしています。生菓子と抹茶のセット500円で池のある庭園を眺めていられるのはリーズナブルです。施設としての囲いはありますが外側も文化ゾーンの広大な庭園です。 こんなに客が少なくて経営が成り立つかと思いますが茶席や和室の貸し館も営んでいるようです。それでも採算はとれないで...
