Shoya — Restaurant in Sakae

Just hours off the plane, a bit weary and disoriented, I found myself walking into this small, unassuming restaurant. Little did I know, this visit would be one of the highlights of my trip. The moment I stepped in, I was embraced by an atmosphere that felt so familiar, so comforting, like a warm hug after a long day.

I ordered the Monjayaki and Hiroshima Okonomiyaki, and from the first bite, I was taken on a journey through layers of flavor. It’s hard to describe just how special these dishes were—each one felt like a tribute to Japanese culinary tradition, infused with the love and passion of those who prepared it. It was clear they poured their soul into each dish, and it tasted like home, even to someone who wasn’t local.

But what made this experience truly unforgettable was the warmth of the people. The staff made me feel like an old friend rather than a traveler passing through. They were so attentive, patiently explaining the dishes, laughing with me, and creating an experience that was about more than just food. It was hospitality at its best—genuine, unhurried, and sincere.

The place itself was simple and cozy, not flashy or overly polished, but that’s what made it so charming. It’s a place where you can settle in, take your time, and really savor the experience. If you’re ever in Japan and want to experience a slice of tradition served with heart, I can’t recommend this place enough. お店の外見は、一昔前の店構え しかし、一歩中に入ると、清潔感あり、 カウンター、イス席、お座敷（お好み焼き、鉄板焼用）３つに衝立で区切られているが かなりゆったりしたスペースがある

壁には、おしゃれにリザーブされたお酒が飾られている

広島風お好み焼きを初めて食べました。 キャベツの量がとっても多かった

豚肉焼いて、麺をほぐしながらやいて 粉を溶いたものを 丸くのばしてのばして、、、、

お好み焼きとは、全く作り方が違う 同じ粉ものだからとしか思っていなかった
