SURYA 白老店 — Restaurant in Shiraoi

苫小牧市新中野町に本店がある。白老店は２０２２年９月１５日創業。ネパールで１０年以上修業を積んだベテランシェフとスタッフ計３人による本場のカレーを楽しめる。

メニューはチキンチーズカレー、マトンカレー、ミックスベジタブルカレーなど。水を一切使わず、炒めた野菜の水分で作っているため、食材のうま味が凝縮されている。

辛さは１０段階あり、注文時に選んで味わう。組み合わせて食べるナンの種類にはチーズやガーリックがある。１人１０００円前後、セットメニューは同１２００円ほどで食事ができる。

おすすめは、店の味をワンプレートで楽しめるＳＵＲＹＡスペシャルセット（ランチは１４３５円、ディナーは１５３５円）。主食は、もちもち食感のプレーンナンとターメリックライス。

本格カレーは、タマネギやニンニク、ショウガに１０種類のスパイスを利かせたスープカレーとホウレンソウベースのチキンサグカレーの２種類。

さらに８種類のスパイスで味付けして窯で炭焼きしたタンドリーチキン、ホウレンソウのネパール炒め、サラダが付き、デザートにラッシーかマンゴーアイスを選んで味わえる。

店内はテーブル、カウンター席など計２７席。テークアウトにも対応し、小中高校生には２９８円のソフトドリンクかアイスを無料にする。

The main shop is located in Shin-Nakanocho, Tomakomai. The Shiraoi branch was established on 15 September 2022. A veteran chef, who has trained in Nepal for more than 10 years, and a total of three staff members can enjoy authentic curry.

The menu includes chicken cheese curry, mutton curry, mixed vegetable curry and more. The curry is made without any water, using only the water from the stir-fried vegetables, so the very good taste of the ingredients is concentrated.

There are 10 levels of spiciness to choose from when ordering. The combination of naan is available in plane, cheese and garlic varieties, and the set menu costs around 1,000 yen per person, or 1,200 yen for the same meal.

I recommend the Surya Special Set (lunch: 1,435 yen, dinner: 1,535 yen), which allows you to enjoy the restaurant's flavours on a single plate. The staples are plain naan with a sticky texture and turmeric rice.

Two authentic curries are available: a soup curry with onions, garlic, ginger and 10 spices, and a spinach-based chicken sag curry.

In addition, tandoori chicken seasoned with eight spices and char-grilled in an oven, Nepalese stir-fried spinach and salad are included, with a choice of lassi or mango ice cream for dessert.
