Shichifuku Sushi — Restaurant in Toba

This place is the only restaurant I found after 6 pm in Toba. There’s no English menu and the owner cannot speak English. However, with the help of google translate and the shop owner, we order many food. The owner and his wife prepared our food nicely. The owner kindly teaches us how to eat each of his masterpiece sushi. The fish is very fresh from the sea, and with the owner skills. His sushi is amazing. Some of his sushi has to take it with salt some with shoyu, the owner put a lot of effort and care to tell us the best way to try his food out💗 also we tried the fried shrimp which is very good as well the shrimps inside are huge. Was really looking forward to going to the restaurant after seeing fellow traveller reviews, but was refused service after saying that we don’t speak Japanese (at least we understood this was asked).

We had got by before at local sushi joints (we most fondly remember one in Hakodate) by using a few Japanese words, pointing, and using Google translate.

Understand that older shop owners often feel embarrassed when encountering non-Japanese speaking customers, but seems a bit strange in this day and age when Google Translate helps with a touch...

Had a good sushi bar experience at this restaurant - the chef and wife made us each a very delicious 5 piece sushi set and gave some instruction on how to eat using hand rather than chopsticks. 2 of the 5 sushi were salted and chef recommended not to put shoyu on those.
