一峰 — Restaurant in Tokyo

Dyring my stay in Oshima I tried for the first time the popular べっこう寿司 (bekkō sushi), which I reccomend as it's tasty.

Bekkō isn't the name of a local fish or anything like that: the word べっこう only indicates the way the fish is soaked into soy sauce and the unique spots that appear on the sashimi (which make it look like a 鼈甲 - べっこう, a tortoise shell).

It's a nice experience and the view of the port from this restaurant is quite lovely. We chilled here while waiting for our ferryboat.

On the other hand I think the pudding, albeit quite cheap (which is always appreciated!) isn't...

I left my backpack here (off-season price: 200 yen) since there are no lockers at the port. They may not be able to accept large suitcases, so keep that in mind. Unfortunately, the second floor was closed during my visit, so I couldn’t sit there. I bought Oshima milk cookies (senbei) as a souvenir and tried their pudding (crème caramel). One of the best restaurant you can get the Izu-oshima's signature food. We ordered limited served Ichimine don and Ashitaba soba. The freshness of fish is just over the top. Will definitely go back...
