Flavorless …. The cute and kitschy surroundings … cramped much? We were the first customers at 5:05 pm. Ebi Harumaki with iceberg lettuce? Thin sauce with no depth … the noodle cold soup … no flavor …. No bite The noodles were exactly the right doneness but the broth was bland. The pumpkin tapioca was the highlight … such a shame. I did a two week, south to north train tour of Vietnam …. In my experience, Vietnamese food is a symphony of flavors and intense broths and unique textures … Ciao em Cafe is a disappointment …....

Saw it, tried it, reviewed it. In the same way that London can boast some of the best Indian food in the world, I can probably say the same for Montreal and Vietnamese food. And I have eaten dinner of the best Pho in the world in Montreal. The 3 stars here is really generous on my behalf because in terms of what I know is possible in taste, this place doesn't even come close to what real Vietnamese food could be. Meant to try this place for a long time, and finally did.
