When I visited "Katsuya Adachi KÅhoku," it was another typical roadside restaurant along Kan-nana Street. This location boasts a parking lot that can accommodate about ten cars, but be warned that it gets crowded during lunchtime and weekends.
As I entered, I could see the busy kitchen and the satisfied faces of the patrons. However, today there was a bit of a hiccup. Due to a shortage of staff in the kitchen, they couldnât keep up with the rice cooking, and some dishes couldn't be served. The staff apologized politely to the customers, addressing the situation as best as they could.
Despite this minor setback, the restaurantâs charm remained intact. I ordered the staple "Katsudon." After a few minutes of waiting at the counter, it arrivedâa bowl filled with a sense of comfort and reliability.
The first thing that caught my eye was the golden-brown cutlet. The crispy coating glistened under the light, making my mouth water. Atop it was a partially set egg, adding a rich visual layer, and the green mitsuba leaves provided a vibrant touch.
As I took my first bite, the juiciness of the cutlet filled my mouth. The batter was crispy, and the inside was succulent. The mild sweetness of the fat and the creaminess of the egg harmonized perfectly. The rice, soaked in the flavorful sauce, was an absolute delight.
Looking around, I noticed other customers also enjoying their meals with content expressions. This atmosphere made the food even more enjoyable. I savored every moment, briefly forgetting about the outside world and immersing myself in the meal.
