Takumi — Restaurant in Tokyo

Didn't know what to expect from Takumi. This local neighborhood Ramen shop is a bit larger than some of the other ones; in addition to the regular bar seating, they even had a room with a few tables. A very popular spot, I had to wait in line for about 15 minutes, and there were lines when I left as well. Definitely very local...smack down in the middle of a neighborhood, no shopping plaza or mall. I think the owner might be running it? or maybe he is the manager? not sure...

Definitely a small business mom and pop shop... The staff is fast, efficient, friendly and make a brilliant bowl of Ramen. Two young guys preparing the food in the open kitchen and the main guy (I'm guessing the owner) taking care of the rest of the operation. While Takumi's menu is Japanese, it also has pictures of the dishes and names in English! Bless your soul...I can finally understand and order something instead of pointing and hoping for the best!

~ Chasu Pork (Appetizer) - 4/5 A few slices of tender pork served cold. Just straight up pork with a few spring onions, no rice or daikon or anything else with it. I think if this pork was in the hot soup it would probably melt in your mouth.

~ Burnt Garlic Ramen - 5/5 Brilliant! Not too creamy, rich or salty...just perfect. That "Burnt" Garlic...more like Roasted Garlic flavor really comes through in the broth. The pieces of Cabbage threw me off as I haven't seen that before. My bowl didn't have the generous size pork pieces in the Ramen itself, like some other place. I'm not sure if that's because I ordered the Chasu Pork separately as...

I had the Ramen with extra garlic which was delicious. I thought of eating the gyoza but no one there seem to order gyoza even though the restaurant was filled with locals. The staff was kind and very polite. The one thing which I liked about the restaurant was, specifically the garlic which were kept in a bowl. You can have as my as you want. The ramen noodles were great and the broth was fantastic. What personally made me sad was the quantity of the bowl for the price. But still, it's ok to fill your stomach if you go to have dinner. Very tasty ramen. Just take the オススメ (osusume) menu and you wont miss 👍🏻 not so busy, so you will always find a vacant place.
