A Shocking Display of Discrimination!
We visited this shop as a group of four adults and an 8-year-old child. Upon arrival, the female shop assistant informed us that each person had to order a meal, which we had no issue with.
Once seated, my daughter placed a small candy on the table. Almost immediately, the shop assistant, with a stern and unfriendly expression, told us that outside food was not allowed. Though I personally don’t consider candy to fall under the same category as actual food, we respected their rules and put it away.
Everything seemed fine—our salads and drinks arrived, and we were enjoying our conversation. Then, out of nowhere, the cook (who I assume is also the owner) approached our table with the bill and pre-packed food. Confused, we asked what was happening. To our shock, he told us that he had already prepared our burgers and that we needed to leave—simply because he had seen, via CCTV, that my daughter had eaten the candy.
This was absolutely absurd! He had been spying on an 8-year-old from the kitchen just to catch her eating a piece of candy? The fact that he went to such lengths to justify kicking us out was both disturbing and ridiculous.
We started arguing with him, questioning how such a ridiculous rule could even exist. When we asked, “What about a baby needing to drink milk?” his shocking response was:
“Yes, the baby must go outside to drink milk.”
At that point, it was clear that this place had no sense of logic, kindness, or basic human decency.
We will never, ever visit this shop again. For a Japanese establishment, in a country that prides itself on exceptional customer service and the spirit of omotenashi, this was nowhere near it. An absolute disgrace.
Avoid this place at all costs. No customer deserves to be...

I visited The Giant Step Nerima with my family (4 adults & 1 child) after our Harry Potter Studio tour, looking forward to a good meal. We were informed in advance that every guest must order a dish, which we had no issue with—we were there to eat. So, we ordered meals for every single one of us, including my 7-year-old daughter.
While waiting for her food, my daughter was snacking. Shockingly, the cook came over with our food and told us to pay and leave immediately because we had "broken the promise." Apparently, they had been watching us on CCTV. This was completely unacceptable. Everyone in our group had ordered, and there was no reason for this treatment.
If we truly "broke the promise," the right thing to do would have been to stop cooking and ask us to leave—not prepare our food and then demand payment. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and unwelcoming.
Families with children should avoid this place. The way they handled the situation was unnecessary and rude. Plenty of other restaurants in the area treat customers with respect—this is not...
Read moreIt is really close to Toshimaen Station on the Oedo line. It is down the street from the movie there so it was ideal for my partner and I for a movie and dinner afterwards. It is a street joint, felt very authentic. The ambiance and seating was very nostalgic for me.
We went around five on a Sunday, and there was no wait. However we had passed by the place earlier and it looked really busy.
I had the avacado cheese burger and my partner had the chilli cheese burger. I ordered the sized up fries and drink. They were amazing. Best burger I've had in Japan thus far. The counter comes at a close second. Everything about it was just amazing. The taste was authentic. It made me forget I was in Japan. Coupled with the jazz and the decor I thought I was in New York for a second!
The staff was friendly and attentive. The burgers came out really fast. And we had no problems. It was actually quite relaxing. The prices were very reasonable.
I strongly...
