クプクプカフェ — Restaurant in Tomakomai

If you have a fear of butterflies / insects, stay clear of this place. However, if after reading this review and looking at the photos, you are not in the least creeped out yet, then give this place a shot! Tucked in a nondescript neighbourhood near the Nozomi Community Centre (take bus no. 3 from behind Tomakomai train station 北口), this humble diner offers Okinawan cuisine. Think soba, umi budou (sea grapes) and goya champuru... The catch is, you would have to dine in a place "infested" with butterflies!!! Literally!!! I must admit I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of butterfly specimens displayed here. It's almost like a mini butterfly museum!!! It also speaks volumes of the owner, who told me that all the specimens were painstakingly assembled by her. My wandering mind couldn't help but imagine this place as the perfect location for an M Night Shyamalan thriller!! (Now imagine with me... If all these butterflies somehow come to life... You get the picture!!!) Still, for those looking for something unique and less ordinary, stop by for a visit. There's also a mini shop on the second floor that sells some Okinawan trinkets and glassware... Oh, and of course, MORE...

石垣そばをいただきました。 ソーキそばとの違いを聞きましたところ、ソーキの方は骨付き肉で、石垣の方は三枚肉とのことでしたので、石垣そばになりました。 お値段は、普通のラーメンと比べると少し高めの1100円くらいでした。 ですが、ここら辺でこのそばを食べるところがないのと、とても美味しかったのを考慮すると納得できるかも。 その他、ランチで1800円のコース料理ありました。 今度、食べてみたいと思います。 あと、たぶん料理を一人でしている？のと、料理待ちの組がいたので、30分くらい待ちました。 事前に予約するか、時間に余裕がある時に行...
