Asahiya — Restaurant in Tsuruoka

We stopped here for dinner on our way down the coast. We ordered a local catch sushi set (¥3000) and chirashi don (¥1200) for us, and a tempura fried fish and vegetable set for our kids. We also ordered a salty fish soup. The chirashi don was delicious and a very good deal. The server and sushi chef were especially kind and helpful (even going so far as to order small pizzas from the izakaya across the street when our kids wouldn't eat the fish we'd ordered). They seated us in a private room which overlooked the marina, giving us a beautiful view for sunset. They also provided kid-sized chairs and utensils, and brought in a little wooden toy for the kids to play with while we waited for our food. “Asahiya” is one of my favourite restaurant around this region. The restaurant is located right in front of the beach. You can see the beautiful sunset from the seats. As you see in one of the attached pics, “omakase” sushi plates are served with the pics of fish used for the sushi served. I found it unique and fun! Their omelet is divine and so is soup. I went there with my family and we all ordered different ones. All dishes served were so delicious. Wonderful restaurant where you can find delicious sushi and other seafood dishes. Loved the seasoning the sushi master used on the sushi and it complimented all the flavours.
