Houki Boshi is a dessert shop located in Okinawa's Uehara area, specializing in exquisite canelés. As a tourist, I was drawn to the high-quality desserts offered here. The canelés have a crispy exterior and a soft, moist interior, offering a rich texture with every bite, filled with the aroma of vanilla and caramel. The shop is situated in a tranquil and charming Japanese-style environment, making it a relaxing place to visit.

The staff are friendly and provide detailed introductions to the characteristics of each canelé. The shop does not have seating and only offers takeout, but the quality of the desserts makes it worth the trip. It's worth noting that the roads in the area are narrow, so it's not recommended to park directly in front of the shop to avoid obstructing traffic. There is a paid parking lot at the corner, just a few minutes' walk away, which is very convenient.

After purchasing your canelés, you can take a stroll around the Uehara area. This district is home to many unique shops, including cafes, handmade craft stores, and creative boutiques, filled with an artistic and leisurely atmosphere. Originally a commercial area converted from U.S. military housing, Uehara has now become a trendy spot with a unique charm, attracting both tourists and locals. If you enjoy leisurely walks and exploring small shops, this is definitely a place worth spending time in.

Nice little shop that specializes in brown sugar canelés. Since they are made with brown sugar there is a bit more depth in the flavor compared to regular ones. There are also over ten flavors to choose from, but to me the flavors don’t matter too much because it’s only on the top, but I quite like the salt milk flavor. The shop offers boxes of 4,6 or 10, and you can pick your own assortment of flavors. They are bite sized so one can easily eat quite a few of them in one go.
