In the world of Kaiten-zushi (aka "Sushi Go Round"), there's really only three choices in Okinawa: Kura Sushi, Hamazushi and of course Sushiro. Hands down, Sushiro beats their competitors for quality and consistency by leaps and bounds -- It's not even a close race if you know anything about sushi.
Of course, Okinawa is seriously challenged in that we are still 1700 miles away from REAL fresh sushi on the order of what Hakodate has to offer, but even then -- That's not the point of a Kaiten-zushi restaurant.
When you are looking at ¥100, ¥200 and ¥300 plates, you need to definitely dial down your expectations significantly. Nevertheless, even putting this into perspective, I was rather astonished at the shear quality of each plate coming off the conveyor belt...
The pics pretty much speak for themselves, as you can see the diversity of options that would be typically only seen up in mainland. At the same time, they don't have games to entertain kids or the strange "limited time" concoctions that come out of Kura Sushi -- But, I consider that a plus as Sushiro seeks to distinguish itself on a better quality of fish.
The Maguro (Tuna) trio of O-Toro, Chu Toro and Akami are a perfect example as the colors, texture and flavors are right in the spectrum. Not by any means mind blowing, but also not a huge let down of disgust.
As Sushiro has its place in the hierarchy of Sushi shops, it's nice that you can fully stuff a family of five fish lovers in the range of ¥7000 complete with drinks and desserts. Moreover, walking away satisfied that you actually had something on the order of "Sushi" compared to the other two joints where we always walk away asking what the heck we had actually consumed.
Keep your expectations in perspective, enjoy a lovely budget Sushi experience at Sushiro and avoid Kura and Hamazushi...
