merci scone — Restaurant in Yoichi

A real hidden gem hidden on the northern coast of Hokkaido! I saw there were scones here, and was excited to see how many different kinds were available...and they may be the best scones you can find in Asia. The hojicha scone is particularly good and would be very difficult to find elsewhere - you might say this is the best hojicha scone available anywhere in the world. The effort and skill is apparent in all the different flavors, this is a refined and practiced method of making scones. You might as well get one of each flavor because they are all excellent!

Hide and Akane are so friendly too, I loved chatting with them and seeing all of their movie memorabilia. Definitely try the cafe latte too - I also don't think I've had a better one in Hokkaido.

A bit far out from the rest of Yoichi, the scones were mindblowingly good (even eaten cold). It's buttery but not greasy, with a good chewy dough.

We tried Maple walnut, mince pie and sake

Mice pie was by far my favourite, it's very christmassy with lots of spices and raisins.

Maple walnut is everything you would imagine, the walnut seems to have been candied slightly which is very nice

Sake was by far our least favourite, very sweet with a hint of sake aroma aftertaste

The service was friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant experience. I appreciated being able to practice my limited Japanese, and the staff member was great at bridging the language gap with English. The scones were outstanding! Next time, I plan to order a coffee to enjoy alongside them, and I'm looking forward to returning on a busier day to explore a wider...
