Disappointing Mansaf: Lacking Authenticity and Consistency
We ordered mansaf last week and were very disappointed with the overall quality. The jameed was excessively diluted, to the point that it had no authentic flavour or saltiness. It tasted nothing like the rich, savory jameed one expects from traditional mansaf, we all had to add salt ourselves, which was very surprising.
This wasn't our first order. Previously, the jameed was on the lighter side, but still acceptable. This time, it felt like an entirely different dish, inconsistent and lacking the essence of proper jameed.
The lack of consistency continued across other elements of the dish:
The shrak bread was grilled and excellent the first time, but the second time, it was served plain, a noticeable downgrade.
On both occasions, the fried almonds were soft and soggy, no crunch at all. This may seem like a minor detail, but it’s not. Crisp, well-toasted nuts are a basic expectation, especially from a restaurant that comes highly recommended by multiple friends. A reputable place should know better.
We come to Amman every summer looking forward to real, authentic mansaf. Unfortunately, this experience left us hesitant to reorder.
Unfortunately, our son, who was visiting for just a few days, had to eat it and commented that in Germany, they serve mansaf that is far more authentic, well-presented, and topped with crispy...
Read moreHighly recommended by my Airbnb host. It's located just about 10-15 walk from my unit.
I love the huge outdoor dining area. It feels so relaxing and cozy. The staff are very welcoming even with a language barrier with my limited Arab. But most of the staff does speak English.
The food is traditional Jordanian dishes. Come here with a big appetite. The platters come in big portions. They give you complimentary olives while you wait for your food. I started with the hummus. It's really fresh, tasty, and authentic. I wish the pita bread was warm, though. I ordered the Mixed Grill Platter, and it's the way to go if you want to try the different type of grilled meat. It does sound like a lot of food, but im a big eater and finished it clean.
But make room for dessert. They are known for the kunafe.
The wait staff pretty much leave you alone and enjoy your food. But don't be afraid to waive them down if you need something else.
I had a great dinner and did.niy break my budget. Very...
Read moreGreat place in Amman to enjoy authentic Jordanian cuisine. I had the mansaf, and it was absolutely delicious, the jameed sauce was perfectly balanced, and the traditional presentation made the whole experience even more special. My family and friends ordered the chicken scallops as well, and they all agreed it was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The atmosphere is comfortable, clean, and welcoming. What really stood out was the great service, the staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive. Everyone was smiling and genuinely happy to help, which made us feel right at home. This restaurant perfectly blends traditional flavours with a relaxed family-friendly setting. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch or a place to bring guests for a taste of Amman. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy good quality food, generous portions, and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be coming back on my next...
