Mežs Kungs — Restaurant in Bauska

Atmosphere and the interior is very nice and cozy. Food is not in the best quality. We ordered two portions of pig knuckles and the meat was like chewing gum. Staff was assuring us that it was cooked for 8 hours. I did not believe this piece of information. We also had fish, but the sweet potato mash with something was too sweet. If you have options choose something else in around. There is a nice place called Aveņi in Bauska. Go there instead and don’t get disappointed by bad food and customer service.

Unfortunately I am not able to reply on below reply and therefore I am editing my original review. With respect, below comment includes information that we received high quality service and were asked multiple times if we are satisfied with service and everything is good. I do not remember that we were asked. Servant did come to our table multiple times but only to collect the plates. If that matters - we were also the ones asking for additional drinks.

I agree about the fact that we indeed needed to inform about the issue with food on time. However, I disagree with the comment that everything was eaten and only bones were left. That was simply not true. In that case I could argue and state that a food that restaurant is not able to serve at the highest quality (cooked) at all times should not be included in the menu at all.

The food was as absolutely delicious! I had a catfish with asparagus& other veggies. It was cooked to perfection, can't fault a thing. Compliments to the shef! Unfortunately only 3 stars as I wasn't satisfied how the bar staff dealt with my complaint about the drink order. My prosecco was served completely flat-no bubbles at all. I politely asked it to be changed. The bar staff came over and told me that he did open it today and he does not know how this happened. I do not need to know the reason behind it, nor any customer in general. Firstly it should not be served flat, no matter when the bottle has been opened. If it is flat-it should not be served to a customer, as simple as that. A simple apology, which I never received, would have been more proffesional. He did offer me a substitute but the first impression was ruined unfortunately as he made me feel like it's my fault for sending the drink back. The waiting staff was polite. My only suggestion would be to check back a bit sooner after a guest has received their meal, as I would have wanted a black pepper with my meal but the lady came to check on me when I was already almost finished.Waiting/bar service needs an improvement, other then that a lovely little place with tasty...
