Stayed here a night in early November, 2019. This was the last day of our trip in Lithuania, and we were hoping to enjoy seeing the castle and the lake in a smaller locale than the cities we had been in.||||Check in was fine, with the young man there helpful and prompt. His English is a bit limited, but speaks fluent Russian, which allowed my girlfriend to communicate well with him. We had the suite with hot tub. The main room was very large, with a huge bed and a view out to the lake. The bathroom was a bit small, but nicely appointed. Overall, the look of the room was quite attractive. The grounds are pretty as well, with a pier on the lake. It is around 15 minute walk to the island castle. We were told at the desk that buses run, but were later told at a restaurant down the road, that they do not run in the off season. ||||We then had a late lunch at the restaurant, which is Georgian. The food and drinks were excellent, with great wines and beers from Georgia. And the fresh baked bread was wonderful. We also had breakfast the following day, which was equally good.||||We had requested the spa at 9 pm for 2 hours. However, we arrived back at the hotel early and I asked if we could have it at 8 pm instead, which the man there agreed and said he would turn the facilities on. I also asked if we could order drinks, and although he informed me that I could not get a bottle of wine, he could bring us a beer and glass of wine. So, a half hour or so later, we went down to the spa. And although the hammam and sauna were heated or heating up, the whirlpool tub never got above luke warm. And the plunge pool (cold, of course, as is the way they are) didn't have jets that worked, despite multiple pushes of the buttons. Also, we never received the drinks we ordered. So, it was passable, but hardly up to expectations, especially since it costs 50 euros for two hours. So, when our time was up, we decided to return to the room and try the hot tub. This is when we discovered there was no hot water at all. At this point, the front desk was closed, and I received no answer when calling the hotel, so I decided to wait until morning, hoping it would heat up. In the morning at 8 am, we went down to the spa, as we were told we could use it without a fee then, but the lights and facilities were all off. At this point we tried the shower in the room, and although there was tepid water, it only lasted a few minutes before going cold. So, my girlfriend attempted to use the showers in the spa, but this was also not hot. I tried calling the hotel numerous times, but did not receive an answer until 9 am, at which time we were told (by a different individual than the man at the desk) that we should have informed them we wanted the spa in the morning (this was not made clear to us), and that they would call a maintenance man to try to fix the hot water. This, of course, did us no good as we were checking out in under 2 hours. So, we went for breakfast (which is at 9 am, there is no one present at the establishment or answering the phone before then), ||||Shortly before check out, I asked the same young man at the desk if we could get a taxi to the airport and he handed me a business card to make the call myself. After returning to my upstairs room, I found that the number did not work, so I had to go back downstairs to ask him again. This time, he ordered a taxi through an app on his phone. A bit disappointed with this, as I would say it is routine for a hotel to call the taxi you request.||||Overall, while the hotel itself is nice, the many miscommunications and lapses in service made for a less than relaxing stay. And off season or not, there of course should be hot water. And with no one answering the phone in off hours, you better hope there are no problems later at night. The restaurant is very good, but I simply cannot recommend staying at this hotel. Essentially, I paid a lot extra for a hot tub in the room which I did not get to use, and extra on top of that for a spa that was below expectations, and there was no offer for compensation when I brought this up when...

Read moreWithout doubt the most unfriendly welcome ever! It was consistant and no staff ever smiled or showed an pleasure in their work or me! I booked a room entitled "Suite with Lake View" 1st. It was not a suite. Just a room with wc and broken down sink where a tap head fell off and the plug plunger came off. So no plug. There was a shower bath bizarrely in the room. But that had no method of securing shower head so could not be used. There was I discover no electricity to the bedside plug point. So a flat phone battery in the morning! 2nd and worst was finding both windows were immediate next to people earing and drinks. So no privacy and noisy with faces looking back! Between a massive sun umbrella and all the people a bit of the lake could be seen. For privacy a curtain had to be use. So no view at all. Noisy and so misleading. 3rd. Breakfast, it you can call it that. Only opened at 9. But no sighn of activity until.9.30. No food on display, no welcome. Then just offered a coffee and two eggs ( although nicely cooked) that was it! No bread, no fruit, no cheese or meats, no cereals yoghurt , absolutely nothing. I asked a horrified waitress for a second coffee! Having visited 9 countries in 12 months, including all Baltic states this was the smallest and worst breakfast. I immediately went over the road to the supermarket for food for breakfast! Really needs a new...
