Sushi Bateau — Restaurant in Bettembourg

I use to go to this restaurant since 2019 and one of the reason is because my eldest son loves the concept of sushi train. My youngest son use to eat noodles, he doesn’t like sushi. Saying this, our last experience was very interesting, my youngest son was a little bit sick and was not hungry. But he wanted to come with us and spend some time with me and his brother. So he just ordered an orange juice, my eldest son and I ordered 2 sushi train menu, a big bottle of water and a quarter of wine. The owner explained to me that my youngest son has to order a plate otherwise he will have to pay an extra of 12€ because he was « using » a seat and was just drinking. I was surprised because this is not mentioned anywhere and I go to this place for more than 4 years. But I asked again to my son if he would like to eat something and he replies saying that he was not hungry at all and was not feeling ok. The owner was in front of him when he was saying this but she kept saying the same argument, if you don’t eat: you pay 12€. You can order something and take it away… Sorry!!! So I ordered some nems for 6,50€ for him but she said that it was not enough to reach 12€. So you are saying to me that I will have to spend 12€ if my son wants to stay with me in your restaurant even if you know me for years and I use to come to your restaurant once a month. It’s the very first time that he is not eating. Ok so I ordered another glass of wine and a small bottle of water to reach 12€ (against my desire). My conclusion:

1. this people do not respect their clients and don’t have any consideration for them, they just think about making more money.
2. I am not sure that this way of proceedîng is legal but I will contact the ULC (union consommateurs) to get their feedback
3. I understand that they could have risk to lose 1 seat that evening, but one thing is sure now: they have lost 3 usual customers. (90€...

Really bad experience!! Would not recommend.

Wanting a fast meal for our 2 year child we walked in with the taught to get him some rice. That should be fast delivered for a Chinese restaurant that has a sushi train.

So we ordered a bowl of rice and a Wantan 5,40€ and Miso soup 4€. After asking 2 times we got it 20 minutes after the order. A good meal takes time, but it was far from even enjoyable.

Ordered some wine of the house, could not force me to drink the second glass.

Now 40 min in and haven't received the sushi and duck ordered.

So however it tastes it's already a place I know I will never come back to.

Would give it zero stars...

A fine sushi place, with other japanese dishes on the menu as well. Everything is tasty, though the sushi could be more fancy: you'll find the classics and some more original ones, but not the real "delicatessen". Upper average. The place is big enough to sit comfortably, either by the sushi train or at a proper table. There are even separate more quiet and cosy areas. Decorations are sober, modern, clean. Personnel is friendly. Parking nearby. Take away and home delivery...
