Al Schwemm — Restaurant in Diekirch

The location is perfect, the view is spectacular, so this place has great potential, sadly, it does not live up to that, mostly because of the horrible service. Also, I talked with friends who had the same experience. We have been there multiple times, because it is situated by the cycling path we take regularly for bike tours. The service is incredibly slow, and some of the staff were really unfriendly. There were more than one occasions when we had to leave without ordering after waiting for long. Like the last time, I was there with my very hungry 2,5 years old son. The place was practically empty, only a few tables occupied, I saw the waiters chatting inside, I tried to waive a few times but they just turned their head away. So after 15 minutes we left, and my son was really upset about it. Even those occasions when we managed to order, it took incredibly long to be approached by a waiter, then to get the order, and it also takes forever to get the check. Once I went inside to order, but I was told very rudely to wait for the waiters outside. After the first time, we shouldn't have gone there ever again, but the problem is that they have no competitors, because there are no other places on the riverbank. I really liked my stop at the “Al Schwemm” To be honest, I stayed longer than planned. It was in the beginning of the afternoon and I head a little personal success to celebrate. 🤭🥳 I spontaneously decided to have a drink at the terrace and it was a lovely moment. The location is nice but the service was the worst I have seen in Luxembourg in decades! The young staff clearly cannot cope with the amount of customers and none of them cares much about providing a decent service. Half of them are on smoke breaks, the others wondering around not cleaning empty tables or looking which customers would like drinks or to pay. Half of the drinks on the menu were unavailable.
