Nasi Lemak Saleha, wrapped in banana leaf and brown paper, has been a regular dish for breakfast on a weekend. We finally decided to try out the Nasi Lemak Saleha outlet at Dataran Pandan Prima on 7 September 2023. The restaurant was quite packed with patrons which bears testimony of the Nasi Lemak Saleha brand popularity. The place is clean. Plenty of tables and seats. Well ventilated. And the two toilets are clean.
Browsing the menu, we were surprised that the restaurant did not only serve the popular Nasi Lemak Saleha but other dishes as well. So we decided to also try out the non-nasi lemak dishes.
Nasi Lemak Pinggan Besar (unwrapped version) - Quite a big let down. The taste and flavor seem to have been lost a lot. The present Nasi Lemak Saleha was not of the same quality as the good old Nasi Lemak Saleha when it first hit the market years ago. The rice was plain. Not so flavorful and coconutty. The sambal chili was not that hot. The boiled egg (half), the anchovies, the roasted peanuts and cucumber slices were as they were. The side order A1 Ayam Goreng had a too hard crusty coat, the chicken meat dry and quite tough. The side order Paru-Paru Berempah were just dry and a bit salty from, probably, over-seasoning.
Mee Kari Nyonya – Not much contents. Mostly yellow mee (noodles). And the gravy was watery and, surprisingly, so sweet.
Bihun Sup Utara – Not much contents. Mostly bihun. And the soup was just salty and not flavorful at all.
The drinks Teh O Ais Limau, Kopi O Ais, Limau Ais and Horlicks Ais were as the usual.
We feel that Nasi Lemak Saleha should just stick to Nasi Lemak and improve on its quality to return to its yesteryears when it was a household name. There is no necessity to diversify to other dishes which it has failed...

Just for plate of Nasi Lemak with Daging Rendang and half boiled egg together with a glass of tea-tarik, the bill clicks at RM12.80 which I presume it's too expensive. I’ve had Nasi Lemak Saleha quite a few times, and while it’s not bad, it doesn’t quite live up to my expectations. The taste is just okay—not as flavorful as I had hoped. I tried their nasi lemak with rendang daging and also had roti canai, but overall, the flavors didn’t stand out. For the price, I find it a bit on the expensive side.
Their teh ais was also just okay—not as kaw as I would like. It lacked the richness and boldness that makes a good cup of teh ais stand out.
The place is usually crowded, but it’s still manageable. Parking is easy, and the service is always excellent. While I wish their nasi lemak was truly sangat sedap, I have to admit that it’s still better than many street-side nasi lemak options in KL. That being said, I personally feel that Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu, Nasi Lemak Ujang, and Nasi Lemak Beratur Pagi at 7-Eleven still have...
