Yen Batu Kawan Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Batu Kawan Island

We had came here several times, bringing family members before they leave Penang. 🙂… I would say I have never been dissatisfied with the food here. We found out this restaurant via Googling for seafood restaurants. For first-timers, you may feel that you are lost somewhere in a plantation but with Goggle and Waze, you will come to the correct destination. CSC is the name on their signboard. As we all know, having seafood in the Island can cost you a dime and I don’t think it’s filling. Food here is tasty and the portion is huge. Varieties of dishes as we would see in a seafood Chinese restaurant. Price is also reasonable comparing to their portions. Their portions are big. We had 5 adults with us and we had to pack some leftovers too. Parking spaces are available on site but it can get busy as dinner time approaches. Ambience was a typical Chinese restaurant. We saw your buses arriving, always a good sign for good food. We found debris in the food, so one star off for that. Now the food. I would describe the food, bland in a good way. Let me explain. The salted egg mantis prawn was lightly salted. So it didn't taste like the usual fare but instead you get more flavor from the meat and egg component. I quite like it. The noodles were plain, not very inspiring. But it shouldn't be, since you don't want to overpower the meat dishes. The steamed octopus was fresh and plainly steamed. Not much salt there too, making it a healthy option. Steamed Horseshoe crab had richness of egg yolk without the egg flavor. I felt it would be better if they would grill it. Also the aquariums was clean with no smell of taint. I expect the fish to taste very fresh....

We called at 9.10pm and placed our order before we went there . As they are closing at 10pm . The food served quite fast and they have made a mistake on our order for the vegetable. They didn’t replace it with other vegetable as they said the kitchen has closed and we only have what’s on the table for 5 of us . We were quite disappointed at first as they were the one who mistakenly heard the wrong order and didn’t replace another dish for us but later on they said will replaced us with some dessert which is fried ice cream with bread . But we didn’t want it . Overall the place here is ok . Food is ok too . And price is very reasonable . Service is ok but staffs are not very friendly maybe we came late and they are about to close and finish work . This is an air conditioned restaurant no outdoor seating ....
