Alu-Alu Kitchen — Restaurant in Borneo

Terrible and unpleasant experience on Chinese New Year Eve. Maybe we were just 4 persons and ordered just 3 dishes, unlike big tables and those VVIP table, so we were not being taken seriously as random customers. Note that, our table was one of those who came the earliest.

3 dishes ordered. First, rice came with the 1st dish. We ate and almost finished our dish (we ate so super slow so that we could continue eating with our remaining dishes). We even paused our eating just to wait. I saw other tables that their dishes were out 2-3 plates at a time. Checked with the service crew of our 2 more dishes. Maybe 10-15 min after, our 2nd dish was out. Then we ate while waiting, note that our rice actually almost gone finishing. We waited so long for the 3rd dish, and we checked with 2 different service crews, and none of them being helpful and serious to our appeal.

As I observed again, other tables who came almost same time with ours, some later than ours, had all gotten their dishes almost in full, even the newer customers. I made my complaint the 3rd time and until we finished eating, our ORGANIC VEGGIES still hadn't arrived, can you imagine, lol.

Frustrated and pissed, we went to the counter and paid (only for the 2 dishes). Only when we went to make payment, they said the kitchen was done cooking the dish. FUNNY till max. But we refused to pay for the 3rd dish that we hadn't enjoyed. Fair enough~

3 dishes only, it took them so long and our dishes were out ONE BY ONE 10-15 or even 30 mins after. What frustrated me was, other tables had their dishes came full within seconds.

Conclusion is, we were just inginificant random customers who ordered very little- 3 dishes only. So, we were totally insignificant. That's why we received that kind of treatment.

This enterprising and practical establishment, despite located in a slightly odd part of town, serves up highly delectable dishes. You could say their 'farm-to-fork' game is very strong. Most ingredients used could have been grown from their farms in Tuaran and Kinarut. The chefs' experience and finesse are translated onto their cooking.

Expect your typical restaurant-like menu, but slightly specialized yet amped up. Deco and ambience is unusually chill, and setting is pleasant for business, solo and family crowds of all kinds. All wait staff are cheery and willing to help.

The main dishes may have a high price tag but are well justified and satisfies that niche market for freshness and quality. Simple favourites like stir fried choy sum are top-notch, whereas their butter chicken and salted egg squid are sinful. As for the seafood, it is the freshest catch one can be offered...

A good place that serves organic vegetables, fresh farmed fish, prawns, chicken..its like home cook meals. Their pandan coconut juice is a must have & their assorted juice are healthily available too. My all time favourite got to be their seafood watan hor. Best to call & book your food in advance for dinner as at times they can be very busy, it may take a long wait for food to be served but nevertheless staff are very well mannered & looks after guests well. Worth the wait for food. Price wise: $$$. High chairs are available for small kids. Waitresses are very attentive & kept every utensils nearby readily cleaned & available for change after our messy meal.
