Really enjoyed my family brunch here despite a few hiccups, I recommend the Nasi Lemak and the Nasi Kuning menus, and the Polo Bun Plain. It is the best Polo Bun for me 😋 - soft bun with no fillings and the bread has a slight chewy texture (it's obvious they used a good strong flour) and a lovely fragrant sweet crust on top - it was served to us hot so the crunch was still there. Please keep up the good work with your Polo Bun! 😋😋😋 As for the Nasi Lemak and the Nasi Kuning the waitress did asked if we need it less spicy - so there's your option. The fried chicken in the Nasi Lemak and the fried fish in the Nasi Kuning (both comes with bones) was fresh and juicy, and not overcooked or burnt 👍. Hot Kopi O was great, comes with a bit of sugar added, and you can add more sugar (provided on the table) if needed. The kaya butter charcoal toast has an absolutely delicious kaya, but melted butter 😅.
A few suggestions: I'd love to be able to take my time to go over your lovely menu so if I could write my own order sheet before your waitress comes to collect my order, that would be great. (And the waitress attending to us did took the time to let us know what was not available today from the menu, which was most appreciated). Update: option to scan QR to place order is now available. 👍 Staffs are still very attentive and kept coming to check and offer help.
It took quite a bit of time to get assistance to correct my draft bill which was missing 2 orders of coffee. And when the food was served the waiter who served our food simply ticked off everything on the draft bill, even the ones not yet served 😅, lucky for us another most helpful waitress helped to fill our missing orders. Targetted staffs training might be of help here. I did saw flies flying around throughout our meal 😅, perhaps a fly catcher might be of help.
Please consider frozen butter for your kaya butter toast. Update: butter still half melted and "flowing" from my toast when I pick it up. 😅
Applause to your waitress who came to greet us at the entrance and helped us find a table. She made us felt so welcomed despite it being almost full house when we arrived. 😊
My recent 2nd visit: in serious need of quality...
Read moreOur first time here, it was their 2nd day. So all the slack (food, service especially, even the treatment from the boss - he may be under stress as its still newly opened) were excusable. Give them chance.
Now my 2nd time, I felt it was so bad I dont feel like going again. The wait staff was so blur. The kaya although generous, was dripping. Bread is on the thick side, not really my thing for toasted roti kahwin. Nasi lemak I specifically asked to separate the sambal as my son do not take d sambal. It then came together with the sambal, to which I told the staff to kindly change the rice and separate the sambal, again explained the reason.
The same staff came back, with a smirk which I am not too sure why. The sambal mixed with rice but in a separate bowl. Rice still the same, with some sambal left on the rice meaning no change. The empty spot where previously was sambal was still oily. Best of all, the spoon that was used to scoop out the sambal was left next to the rice and served back to me😂 i finally understood what that smirk was for. She took me up for stup*d
My son was hungry and fussy, and I was already unhappy about my soggy roti kawin and the attitude of the staff. Cashier was not friendly too.
Tabao our drinks, at first she told it'll be in a cup which I accepted. Then she came back saying 'tiada sini ikat plastik ja'. Plonked them on the table.
Mann this place 😂 I hope the owner will get better staff or properly train their waiters. They have so...
Read moreI just had one of the best local meals in town — Nasi Kuning served with fresh Yellowfin Tuna! The turmeric rice was aromatic and fluffy, perfectly paired with crispy ikan bilis, peanuts, cucumber, half-boiled egg, and a generous dollop of spicy sambal that added a fiery kick. But the real star? That thick, juicy slice of freshly fried Yellowfin Tuna — rich in flavor and cooked to perfection!
To top it off, I enjoyed a super refreshing iced Tenom coffee served in a nostalgic enamel mug (lined with plastic, just like old-school style!) from Yit Foh, Sabah’s pride since 1960.
Simple, satisfying, and truly Sabahan! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an authentic local experience with quality ingredients and...
