The atmosphere is good, the service is very good. I'm proud to see more and more traditional Sarawak food restaurant. But sadly, the food is not that great here. I have been to better one and can't help to compare how far they fall behind to the one i normally go. We are ordering Nasi Tun Uvek Ayam goreng berempah and Nasi Tun Uvek Rendang pork. The food was served cold and the food colour is all green (Daun ubi fried rice (green), kasam daun ubi (green), urum pandan (green) and plated with green banana leaf) and there is unpleasantly hard to chew topping i don't know what it is but it surely makes our dinning experience less exciting. The Ayam goreng berempah is sadly doesn't taste at all like ayam goreng berempah - which just a plain ayam goreng with tepung adabi not crispy and cold. The rendang pork also served cold and too sweet to our liking. Mind you we are trying hard to find anything positive about the food but the more we chew, the more it tastes just plain below average. I think the menu need some changes and do some taste test before selling. Daun ubi fried rice is a creative idea, but please serve together with something more fresh like acar for example to wash of the heavy taste of daun ubi. In the end we paid RM49 and unable to finish it and left with the conversation goes " Well i guess we are not coming back for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAuthentic or not (I have kayan ties), food's good. Quite pricey though. As your average earning Mirian, the place warrants multiple visits, but very sparsely.
Nasi Lemak Babi Salai (RM 25) Rice, 4/10 - Plain white rice, hoped it was nasi santan. Sambal, 8/10 - Sweet, spicy, savoury. Quite hot but not too overwhelming. Pairs well with the main dish and side dishes. Babi Salai, 9/10 - Right amount of fat, melts in your mouth kind of fat. Not too gamey. Unsure how to describe everything else, but its good trust me. Portion is generous, but does it justify the price? You be your own judge. 8/10 dish.
Jumbo Teh C Peng (RM 6) - A tad too sweet for my taste, very frothy, unique presentation.
Sit inside if dining in the evening, some mosquitos outside.
Beware of the surprise friendly cat though, it'll sit right on your lap and ask for pats. Nice company to have. So sit outside if you don't mind the mosquitos and want some cuddles...
