Mom's Laksa Kopitiam is a hidden gem in Kuching, and my recent visit with three friends left us with a delightful experience.
We arrived at the kopitiam around 3:30 pm, which turned out to be an excellent time choice as there was no crowd, allowing us to enjoy our late lunch leisurely.
The star of the show was undoubtedly the Laksa Sarawak, a local specialty. The rich and aromatic broth paired with perfectly cooked noodles made for a delightful combination. Meanwhile, my friends enjoyed Mee Kolok Sarawak and Sup Tulang, and their feedback echoed my satisfaction β all dishes tasted great.
Affordability is another plus point at Mom's Laksa Kopitiam, making it accessible for both locals and tourists.
The only drawback was the kopitiam's location, a bit far from our base at Hilton Hotel. We opted for GrabCar services to reach there, which was a convenient solution.
Although the kopitiam offers a spacious dining area, the Kuching weather can get quite hot. While the fans were functioning, the heat was still noticeable. This is something to consider, especially during the hotter months.
Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food and budget-friendly prices make Mom's Laksa Kopitiam a spot I would definitely return to. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, perhaps with my family to share this...

Ordered laksa RM22 at 11:19. Waited until 12:10 my food didnt arrive. Keep in mind that laksa takes 1 minute to assemble if all source has been prep (which in this case i assume it has since the shop itself is called MOMS LAKSA). Asked the waitress/waiter 3 times still no sign. Requested for a refund of RM22. Didnt even get to eat.
Ordered Telur Padi (century egg) as an addon. 40 minutes-ish in was informed ran out of stock. 1 star instead of 0 cus they refunded my RM4.
Table and tableware was DIRTY. (Table) was full of food residue and not cleaned properly. (Tableware) spoons, chopsticks, forks etc that had been presumedly CLEANED - as in placed in a cylindrical container to be used by ongoing customers - were STILL DIRTY (the fork and spoon i took had bits of noddle sticking to it and unwashed food residue that seems to be laksa sauce) which i has to change 3 TIMES because the other 2 were dirty.
Overall if you think about eating at this place - keep in mind hygiene, wait times and a small possibility you wont be able to eat.
1/5 since the drinks...
Β Β Β Read moreLow review because -Ordered 5 laksa, 4 to dine in and 1 take out. Ordered 4 dine in laksa 1st then 1 take out. The take out laksa came first before 4 dine in laksa. Waited more than 30 minute for 4 laksa to dine in. People around me came later got served 1st. Dont know how they run in the kitchen, 1st come 1st served or they making easier menu first. -Table was dirty, no one wiping the table. Bad hygiene. -They served food without tissue, I know they put tissue on 1 pillar but it is an ethic to serve food along with cooking utensil and tissue together for customer to eat easier. -Went to counter and no one there, other worker saw me at counter but didnt say anything to me or calling the people incharge of counter. Really bad teamwork. -Food was okay, not the best, not the worst.
In conclusion, not a good experience to come to this restaurant. For future customer, please lower your customer service expectation when coming to this restaurant. For restaurant manager, please upgrade your customer service, train your team to be...
