Small restaurant with good ambience, provides both indoor and outdoor seating. Location is convenient since it’s close to the masjid & Pusat Perniagaan Sura Gate, but not too close that it’s hard to find a parking spot. Often a lot of people after 7.00 pm, so it’s wiser to make seating reservations beforehand. It’s definitely on the pricier side but the food is good. Serves usual Western fare—steak and grill, pasta, burgers—as well as some rice dishes such as Teppanyaki and Pad Kra Pow. One of the rare places in Dungun to find Wagyu and Angus beef. As for the food, the steaks and grilled chicken are good. The side salad and mashed potatoes are different and definitely more elevated than what I usually get at local Western-style places, although personally I could do with a little bit more gravy for the amount of meat and mashed potatoes. The teppanyaki dishes are delicious and come with a generous amount of vegetables. The burgers are passable but they could be better for the price (the burger patty tastes good but it’s on the drier side). The pasta dishes taste amazing, and I totally recommend them. I don’t drink coffee, but the frappucinos are good. All in all, it’s a good restaurant suitable for eating out with family and friends for...
Read moreWe’ve had the pleasure of dining at Kakilima three times now, and each visit has been an absolute delight. As French visitors and passionate food lovers — my husband being a chef himself — we are always looking for authenticity, quality, and heart in a meal. Kakilima offers all of that and more.
A special mention to the chef, whose mastery of meat and sauces is truly exceptional. The flavors are bold, perfectly balanced, and deeply satisfying. My husband was so impressed, he already plans to adapt one of their sauces with a French twist back home — the mark of true inspiration!
We would also like to sincerely thank the wonderful service team, especially Dira, for their warmth, professionalism, and hospitality. Each visit felt like coming home — a rare feeling when dining abroad.
Congratulations to the entire team for their hard work, their passion, and for offering such high-quality products. Kakilima is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience we’ll remember fondly.
We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to truly enjoy themselves during their travels in Malaysia. You won’t be...
Read moreI arrived at the eatery slightly past the noonday mark, roughly two hours after noon, expecting a bustling lunch crowd. To my pleasant surprise, the ambiance was serene, almost contemplative, with just enough quiet to savour the moment with disruption.
I opted for the nachos and pasta buttermilk and I must confess, the nachos caught me off guard. What I had presumed would be a casual snack & go turned out to be an exquisitely curated dish. Visually enticing and abundantly portioned, it was evident from presentation alone that this was no mere appetiser. A solid 10/10.
The pasta buttermilk, requested non-spicy, and the kitchen honoured my preference. The accompanying crispy chicken was tender to the point effortlessly cuttable with a spoon. The buttermilk sauce was subtle, mellow, and notably unsweetened.
What impressed me most, however, was the evolution. I have dined here before, and candidly, once vowed not to return due to a string of underwhelming, tasteless menu. But this visit marks a noticeable and praiseworthy transformation. Whoever is behind this shift, consider this review as a...
