This restaurant is located quite far from the city center of Malacca. We decided to give it a try, and I must say, the first thing I always check when eating chicken rice is how good the chicken breast is. Surprisingly, the chicken breast here was incredibly soft and tender. It wasn’t dry at all, and it practically melted in my mouth. If the chicken breast is this good, you can imagine how delicious the chicken thigh was—tender, flavorful, and the meat easily separated from the bone. The rich sesame oil fragrance made it even better. As for the rice balls, they were fine but not particularly special. For our meal, we ordered half a chicken, 15 rice balls, one ice barley drink, and a hot coffee. The total came to RM27.40, which is very reasonable for what we got. However, one thing that could be improved is the lack of menu transparency. We weren’t shown the price of the dishes beforehand; the staff simply asked us how much chicken we wanted or if we preferred half a chicken. While the final price was reasonable, it would have been nice to see the prices on the menu before ordering. The restaurant itself is like a typical kopitiam—simple and clean. If you’re looking for an authentic chicken rice ball experience, this is a great spot. The chicken was the star of the meal—tasty and fragrant with the perfect amount of sesame oil flavor. It had just the right balance of flavor, not too salty or bland. I personally enjoyed the sesame oil taste, which added a nice touch to the dish. Overall, I would definitely return for another meal here, but I hope they improve by displaying their menu prices...
Read moreThis is probably my first experience with chicken rice balls outside of Jonker, and I'm happy that I chose to come here.
To clarify, I'm a fan of chicken rice balls and have tried most stalls in Jonker during my 10+ visits. This place is impressive!
The chicken is straightforward, smooth, and tender, even though it's clearly chicken breast. Though I still that can be improved, tasted better chicken rice's chicken elsewhere.
The rice balls are fragrant and pair quite well with the dark soy sauce. The standout here is probably the chilli sauce, which has a hint of lime.
The prices are reasonable, although the portions are smaller compared to other stalls. In hindsight, this works out well because it leaves room for other delicacies in Malacca.
The service is efficient—just order, pay, sit, eat, and go.
I would definitely...
