Used to be my favourite Bak Kut teh restaurant in Johor. Regrettably, today’s experience made me not wanting to visit them anymore.
We ordered the spare ribs soup, small intestines soup 粉肠, pork kidney, braised bean curd skin, fried fritters, boiled pickled mustard cabbage, white rice.
The pork ribs soup was bland, very thin in taste. The only spice I could detect was the overwhelming cinnamon which masked all flavours, if any. Meat was tough, tasteless, and contained bits and pieces of bone fragments. No flavours, no taste.
The rice was uncooked. Half cooked, half raw.
Small intestines were ok, springy, no smell, nothing much to scream about.
Sliced Kidneys were not well cleaned, hence had very strong urine flavour. Texture was alright, tender and crunchy.
Boiled pickled mustard cabbage was ok. Cooked until soft, clean, clear taste but slightly oily.
Braised bean curd skin was average.
Fritters was slightly soggy.
