Since we are on the topic of teh/kopi, I'd like to introduce you to another good old school kopitiam in Ulu Tiram, a neighbouring town next to JB. I have a few customers here in Ulu Tiram area and all of them love coming to this busy Kopitiam in the morning or even for lunch. The reason? 1) Varieties - you can get a lot of good food here... Singapore Hokkien Mee, HK style CCF, Yong taufu, Johor Laksa, etc and 2) they make one mean kopi and the coffee powder is from Kluang.

◾HK style CCF - thin, silky smooth with a dallop of XO sauce on the side ◾Since I don't really take carb, I ordered a lot of yong taufu stuff - pork skin, lorbak, fried taufu, sausage and many more.. all took a dip in a bowl filled with curry broth. ◾Do take note that their toasted bread is also quite good although not in the picture, plus the Singapore Hokkien Mee.

It is always an enjoyable affair everytime I come here knowing that I'll leave the place with a full and...

I have seen a long que many times at this coffee shop but only today decided to give it a try.

We had to wait about 15 mins in a queue to be seated because the coffee shop was packed. Not sure why, as there were 2 other kopitiam nearby but they were quite empty. 🤔

After being seated, food and drinks arrived relatively quickly. The milk tea was quite good. I really enjoyed the sambal and butter kaya toast. One of the best I've had. Comparable to old town white coffee's toast. There are also other stalls such as laksa and fish noodles. I heard that there was good chee Chong fan available here but sadly didn't spot any for sale when I was there. The half boiled eggs were excellent and cooked really well. 👍🏼

May visit again for the good tea. Nice place for a...

The trick to avoiding long queues and waiting times at Sunshine is to get in before the sun really shines. My guest family of 4 and I drove in from Singapore arriving at the Causeway at 6.30am and got ourselves seated just shy of 7am.

But the queues started to form before 8am. And rightly so. To-die-for wanton mee, roti bakar with kaya and butter, huge soft-boiled eggs and honest-to-goodness fish soup noodles is just the beginning. Get your fix of freshly steamed chee cheong fun, seasoned with light soy sauce and aromatic groundnut oils infused with fried shallots and garlic.

Don’t leave without tasting their hot and cold tea/coffee beverages. Take your pick … tehC, TehO ping, yinyiong, kopi gao… they’re...
