Came here on Saturday just slightly before lunchtime and it was crowded with peeps having late breakfast. Its location takes a bit of motivation to get to as it was in the middle of an old housing estate.
Turnover was fast, so didn't have to wait for a table.
Ordered their claypot fresh kampung lamb, dry noodles, roast lamb portion, hainan chicken and hainan kopi.
The roast lamb arrived first but that was a miss. The lamb came dry, and portion was too little for its price. Spices were light, and its meat lacked flavour.
Next came the lamb claypot, the meat, tendons had a nice chewiness texture but it lacked the taste of mutton.. Herbal soup felt subdued and watered. I would prefer stronger flavours, whether meat or soup.
You see, I love mutton for its gaminess, but I couldn't get it here. However, I do recognise that it boils down to preference as I know a lot of people who liked mutton as long as it's not gamey.
A pleasant surprise was their Hainan chicken. The meat was delicious and they poached it nicely tender.
Noodles had alkaline taste, which I dislked.
Their Hainan kopi was strong and thick. Drinking it felt like being hit by a speeding trailer truck, a really rude wake up call. I loved it.
Would I come...
Read more2 adults and 1 kid visited Pandan Mutton Soup on a non holiday Thursday morning. Around 11am, not many crowd and we were served within 10mins after our order of food.
Boss was serving us and courteously advised us to reduced our order of food. We ordered a plate of Hainanese Chicken rice, egg and beancurd, a small pot of local kampung mutton soup and a Hainanese dried claypot mutton belly. Frankly speaking, the meal was enough for a small family of 4 grown up. But, we were exploring and a bit hungry that morning.
The local kampung mutton was delicious with herbal base soup, the Hainanese dried claypot mutton belly was tasty too. Both dishes don't have the strong taste of mutton, they were very mild and easy for those can't accept mutton taste.
We liked the Hainanese Kampung Chicken rice too, though the rice was different from normal chicken rice, which was more like home cook.
At the end, we finished all food. And it was lunch hour by then, and within minutes the restaurant was filled up...
Read moreWhen i first came here i thought i got the location wrong. Location damn ulu like those kidnapper’s kinda place. The shop front from the outside also looks like a zao lor house. So the entire restaurant is located below ground level. Nicely airconditioned. They are known for their mutton dishes but also have other stuffs like prawn noodles and hainanese chicken rice. I think their dishes are hainanese influenced. Ordered their lamb meat noodles (Rm13.80) which is something special. It’s basically mutton soup with a separate bowl of dry braised yellow noodles. The mutton soup is nice. Not too herbally but the meat is slightly tough. No issues for me but might be an issue for older folks. I don’t really see many mutton soup stalls around so i think this place is pretty gd. Overall i think can try la. If u come in bigger groups can try the mutton claypot. Oh ya there’s no carpark here so it’s the usual rabak parking by the...
