Nice place to ease our seafood crave. Wide spread of live seafood. Seafoods are really fresh

We arrive at about 5.10pm on Saturday evening. There aren't many tables left, as majority are reserved. My advice- please go earlier otlr make reservations. 6pm onwards crowd perpetually filled the place.

First time here do not know how the ordering process. You need to proceed to the seafood station there and queue for your ordering. There is not physical menu for you to order. There will be a staff attend to you and recommend. You can ask them about dishes that are non seafood related. Ie. Vegetables, tofu, scallops or any other dishes in your mind etc.. Also there are many different cooking styles. The staffs that attending to you maybe very rush, speak very fast and quickly want to rush off to attend the next customer. Feel very rush on the ordering process. U cannot have some time to choose. I have to make a decision very fast.

Taste wise was quite normal for all the dishes. Nothing much to shout out. A bit disappointed on their deep fried sotong. Not crispy at all but it's fresh.

The dishes serve to tables maybe fast or super delayed.

First, they served us the veggies and sotong really fast. Then waited for about 10 minutes for the next dish(bun), followed by Crab (another 15min) and lobster (10min later after the crab)

The slipper lobster was really pathetic. Waited for almost an hour ( I ask them twice). Their reply very consistent - coming but....😮‍💨

The one good thing here is their seafood is really fresh and at a reasonable price.

For ordering drinks, you need to go to the drinks station to ask the staff. They will no go to every table to take order.

Extra: there is a small corner(right corner after you enter ) selling otak otak and satay.

Chicken Satay(with skin) not too fantastic mostly are burned. If you like burn skin then this is the one for you. Rm 1.50/ stick

The good thing is they accept credit cards and no...

I had high expectations going to Todak Seafood, given its popularity and reputation, but sadly, the experience was deeply disappointing on many levels. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were an afterthought, we had to actively chase down staff just to get a table, which made us feel unwelcome rather than valued as customers. The ordering system was inconvenient and impersonal; having to walk up to place your own order at a busy seafood restaurant defeats the purpose of dining out and adds unnecessary stress to what should be an enjoyable meal.

The wait for food was painfully long, only adding to the frustration. But what struck me most was the stark contrast between the bustling business they clearly enjoy and the neglected state of their facilities. The restroom was practically a nightmare, dirty and poorly maintained which raises a serious red flag. If the toilets are left in such a state, it makes me seriously question how clean their kitchen and food preparation areas really are. Hygiene should be non-negotiable, especially for a place serving seafood.

As for the food itself, it failed to impress and felt like a missed opportunity. When a restaurant is as hyped as Todak, you expect fresh, flavorful dishes that justify the visit, but unfortunately, the meals lacked the quality and care you’d hope for. It’s a shame that this place, which should be a highlight for seafood lovers, ends up feeling like a chaotic, overrated spot where business profits overshadow guest experience and basic standards.

I can’t imagine returning, as dining should be about more than just the food it should be about feeling respected, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. Todak Seafood, in its current state, falls far...

Went there for a meal last night with high hopes, especially after travelling so far, but all I was greeted with was disappointment. Majority of the food was sold out, but that was fine, probably we went too late. However, given that they were about to close in about an hour or so, their chefs were all apparently on a break? Despite the almost sold out situation, we barely managed to order some for 5 pax. We ordered canned drinks (which thankfully we did), but was greeted with an insect inside the cup of ice. Not an issue, we can do without it. But for those who want extra protein in your drinks, you can try their ice! Was expected hot plate tofu to come with some mushrooms and probably a tiny little bit of veg, but all we had was a plate of sauce, some tofu and barely visible egg. Not complaining as that saved me the trouble of picking out veg. Only order this if you are intending to have rice! Salt seemed to be in abundance since they are next to the sea. Kungpao Chicken was great! As it was so black that we managed to play some guessing game while figuring out what were we eating! Tip: The onions were the easiest to guess! Other dishes.. I guess they were edible? Best cooked dish we ordered was the plain rice! The staff working there were very easy to understand as well - it was so obvious that they had a bad long day! Except for ONE nice lady. 100% recommend this place if you have too much money, but don't know where to find bad food and...

Seafood sold here is one of the cheapest in JB. The fish, steamed in HK style, was surprisingly smooth and had no fishy smell. There weren't many zichar dishes, but it's understandable as seafood is the main highlight. The most disappointing aspect was the overcooked crab and lackluster sauce. Crab was the main highlight of the restaurant, and it was insanely cheaper than other places, coupled with the lack of service charge. But the chilli crab sauce wasn't very good, and the crab was overcooked (claw meat stuck to the shell). Just a note that they have no contingency plans for rainy days, so if you have an outdoor table and it's raining, you'd have to find an indoor table by yourself. Seating is hawker centre style, where you have to find your own table. Tldr: This restaurant is offers one of the cheapest seafood in JB, but the crab dishes were found severely wanting. Edit: I came back here a second time (because it's one of the cheapest in JB), and the crabs were cooked quite nicely this time. It was probably because I came much earlier at 6pm, so the dinner crowd didn't overwhelm the kitchen. But still, there wasn't a contingency plan for rainy weather. This place deserves an infrastructure upgrade! Pushing it to 4 stars from 3 because the crabs were actually quite decent when there wasn't a crowd.

Interesting experience for the city folks. It’s quite a drive from the jb city center. Might be difficult to go without your own car as Grab might not want to go in & out from this rural area. Restaurant is old and rickety. Don’t expect any nice toilets or environment. But it’s rustic like what you can experience in kampung or Kelong type. There’s many seafood to select from many types of fish to crabs etc. menu is extensive. Prices affordable for people across the border. The food was tasty and actually service quite fast for the big crowd. Very popular and fully packed by 6:30pm even on a weekday. The restaurant looks towards sembawang Singapore. Flavors of the food is ok, different from sg restaurants in some way. One gripe is they never really crack the crab shells properly so the sauce flavor doesn’t marinade the crab well and it’s also difficult to eat. They lend you some contraption to crack the hard shell yourself. Very dangerous to me with snapped fingers and flying shell shrapnel. Just order the seafood from the restaurant, noodles, horfun, but DO NOT ORDER THE OTAH ! There’s a vendor that walks about taking orders for otah. RM13 for 10 sticks. Worst otah I’ve ever eaten. It’s like fishy very fishy yet oddly sweet but spicy kueh. Not otah. Yucky. Don’t do it. Everything else was fine.
