This place is one of the hidden gems in Bangi. It's secluded and definitely hidden from the main road. One can only see this restaurant if one goes behind the petrol station nearby. It's definitely very well known through word of mouth and discoverable if one uses a particular phrase on Google search.
Enough with the intro, I ordered a full course meal specifically to review and taste the foods; I can attest the commotion is worth it, with some potential improvements.
Upon entry through the hidden door it's a bit dark but you will be greeted by the jibril light signage and a waiter. It's convenient enough to be able to order using your phones but my experience I couldn't get a decent Celcom Line, so manual orders were go.
The waiter was kind enough to provide the menu and take the orders. I noted that the waiter didn't have any paper to jot my orders hence he had to come back to verify my orders. Also there was a slight miscommunication between the waiters on my dessert but nothing big enough to break the bank, if anything.
The drinks came really quick but the foods had a little bit of wait before they arrived. I would expect that my appetizer to arrive first but my main course did instead 😅. The butter chop was great! I really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel (for non Malaysians) as it was juicy and the meat was thick and fulfilling. There were some crunchy parts and I truly enjoyed that.
However, the dish was soupy, kind of takes away the crunch especially on the bottom. I think if it was a bit thicker like gravy, this menu would actually be lit! The pasta; a bit of a downer for me because it was mostly short. I could not twirl it around the fork and definitely couldn't slurp it. As it was too short I had to use the spoon to enjoy pasta with the buttermilk sauce.
The butter sauce, I'm very sure it's a big hit with Malaysians. The chilli in the sauce gave it some kick and twang in the taste which I really liked. Is it pickled prior? I don't know but it definitely is delicious.
The wings was absolutely enjoyable. I literally put down my knife fork and spoon to enjoy it with the hands. Juicy, deffo generous with the portion as well makes this a go-to appetizer in my opinion.
Crunchy peanut (warning for allergy Peeps) topping muffins but as you dig deeper it becomes soft until you reach the berries. I wished that the berries were slightly more generous and I wouldn't mind paying a bit more to get to the savory sweet berries inside.
I deffo enjoyed the mockarita. It's like a mash up of orange and lime with some salt garnish over the rim of the glass. Compliments the taste and surely a good palette cleanser in between the appetizer, main and dessert.
They've replaced coke with salt coke. I'm not sure about the taste. I don't want to support the Geno too, but I would give this a pass.
The atmosphere, first thing you'll notice, are 1950s cowboys showing on the telly. Then you'll notice the mid-western drinks bar with a giant Gramaphone. Definitely feels oldies and you kinda expect the reek smell of oldies, but it's good. No such thing, as everything is new.
Go ahead, experience a date, family outing, lunch, dinner or whatever it may be. Pretty sure you'll be satisfied with your orders with the good tastes...
Read moreBooked a reservation to break fast with my friend. We booked early, not day of. We showed up early and everything went down hill from there. You can really see how good the service is when the restaurant is in crisis mode. My patients was really tested during Ramadan.
Firstly, when given the receipt for payment (which has to be payed before berbuka) they written the wrong order (important to remember), we pointed it out, they corrected it and we thought everything was fine after that.
Suddenly at 6pm we got a call from the restaurant that there was no electricity, complete blackout. No apology was given on behalf of the restaurant at that time. They had to cancel our booking and was given the option to either change the booking date or take away. Apparently refund was not recommend by them because it would take some time. We decided to take away, hoping to get our order before 7pm so we can find another place to eat. By 6.30pm we waited outside the restaurant where they also set up tables. Talked to the staff and manager about our order but it still wasn't ready yet. They offered to eat there because they were able to get electricity for the outside table area (not sure how) but we declined because by that we were already fed up. So they let us seat while waiting. Again no apology was given.
Then while seated we were told to move quite rudely because they want to set up the table for the customers that chose to eat there. 7pm and our food is finally ready but when I checked our food order, it was the wrong order. It was the same wrong food order from the first time they sent the receipt to us. I literally wanted to scream and again no apology, most of the staff just ran inside hiding and the manager hiding too. 7.10pm I saw there was other customers also waiting for there take away orders and also had their own problems with the restaurant. 7.20pm everyone waiting was given water, food still wasn't ready. 7.27pm azan maghrib and broke my fast with only the water given. 7.30pm was when we finally got our food and that was only then did one of the staff had the balls to apologise us, not the manager (still hiding inside).
At the end disappointed with the service, food was okay. When ure hungry everything tastes okay. Would I recommend anyone else go to eat there? Maybe to just order takeaway if there's no other options. Really hoped they had improved their service since the last time I ate there (about 2 years ago) but it's still about the same. Need much more room for improvements. Will they take my advice I'll never know because that will be that last time...
Read moreFirst time came here after explore and read some reviews about this cafe from Google. Also study their menu list from the online QR code. So, the hypothesis came out before my very first try on this cafe.
First of all, I noticed that their expertise is their butter and salted egg dishes.
Pros : Yes, it really means. I've ordered Nasi Lemak Butter Chicken, Salted Egg with Rice, Butter Chicken Chop Pasta and Salted Egg Croissant. Personally, one of the best and most delicious butter and salted eggs dishes I've ever ate. These two dishes are really tasty and craving. The most craving is the Salted Egg Croissant. It is very soft, cheese on top and full with salted egg inside. If you are a croissant and salted egg lover, you must order more than one to fulfill your hunger. It is simply the best signature menu here. Highly recommended. Also don't forget the Nasi Lemak Butter Chicken. The taste of butter sauce is so delicious and different in their own way. Big portion. I mean it. The butter chicken, salted egg chicken and pasta are more than enough in one plate. The most unexpected is Butter Chicken Chop Pasta which is huge in portion especially the chicken chop size. For normal people, probably you can share a plate of this menu with others. Price. With very good taste and big portion you can get here, the price is so reasonable and affordable. Personally, the best food with the best price here is Butter Chicken Chop Pasta. At RM22.90, you will crave this with no worries thinking of your pocket :) Ambience. Generally, they provide a good and romantic ambience, and also looks quite unique compared to others. They are different in their own style. Just to remind that don't get confused if you think this cafe looks always closed from outside, but actually they are opened. The creativity at its best. Staff. Very kind and friendly staffs. Serve you well in all black uniforms:)
Contras : Beverages. Generally, they are tasty. Just quite unsatisfied with the portion of beverages here compared with its price. Need to add more portion on the...
