A Culinary Journey in the Clouds
My dining experience at Thrive KL was nothing short of spectacular. The moment you step into the restaurant, the panoramic views of the city skyline set the perfect stage for an unforgettable meal.
The evening began with a complimentary starter of Sourdough & Truffle Butter. The lightly toasted sourdough was perfectly paired with the velvety, gourmet truffle butter, offering an indulgent first taste that set the tone for the rest of the meal. It's a simple dish, but one executed to perfection.
For drinks, I opted for the Blue Lagoon, a refreshing concoction of blue sky, lemonade, and soda. The citrusy notes paired with the vibrant color made it a fun and refreshing choice, especially for a warm evening.
Next up was the soup course. The Lobster Bisque was absolutely divine – creamy with a rich depth of flavor, topped with a succulent lobster tail and a prawn shell cracker for added texture. The Truffle Mushroom Soup was equally impressive, with earthy black truffle and a medley of Portobello and shiitake mushrooms. The accompanying sourdough croutons added a delightful crunch and a perfect balance to the soup’s velvety texture.
For the main, I ordered the Truffle Carbonara Linguine, and it did not disappoint. The creamy, truffle-infused carbonara was smooth and rich, with the black truffle and Portobello mushrooms elevating each bite. The carrot pearls provided a pop of color and a subtle sweetness that balanced the dish beautifully.
Finally, the dessert course was a true highlight. The Crème Caramel Crowned was a masterpiece – smooth and silky caramel pudding topped with a delicate caramel nest. The dessert was light yet indulgent, a perfect way to end the meal. The Bee Hive Orange Panna Cotta was a playful and artistic creation, with velvety panna cotta paired with a zesty orange compotê and honey. The edible bee hive elements, including amaretti biscuits and honeycomb tuile, were not only visually stunning but added a delightful crunch and complexity to the dessert.

Read moreJust celebrated a birthday dinner at Thrive KL Sky Dining with my bf, and from the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I felt incredibly comfortable and welcomed.
The ambience was soothing, with the air-conditioning set at just the right temperature — not too cold. The interior decor had a beachy, relaxed vibe, with flowing white fabric draped from the ceiling, creating a breezy, coastal atmosphere that instantly put us at ease.
As we were there for a birthday celebration, the restaurant made a sweet effort to decorate our table with balloons, which added a festive touch. They even provided photo props, making it more fun to take pictures and create memories.
The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and since it’s located on the 13th floor, the view from the top is quite lovely — a great backdrop for special occasions.
When it comes to the food, everything was freshly prepared with good-quality ingredients. The taste was pleasant and decent, and the portion sizes were just right — satisfying without being overwhelming.
The only small drawback was the speed of the service — the next course was served before we finished the previous one. I wasn’t sure if there was a dining time limit, but the pacing felt a bit rushed.
That said, the staff were wonderful — friendly and more than happy to help us take photos for keepsake. A special mention to Waiter Melvin, who went the extra mile by using an Instax camera to take a photo of us and gifting it as a memento. It might seem like a small gesture, but it truly warmed my heart and added a personal touch to the experience.
Overall, the evening was filled with great vibes, thoughtful service, and a beautiful setting. It’s definitely a place I would love...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this place! The ambiance is beautiful and cozy — perfect for a romantic date, festive celebration, or even a casual gathering if you enjoy Western cuisine.
What really surprised me was the food. Often, restaurants with such a lovely setting serve average dishes, but here, every course was a pleasant surprise. We started with the lobster bisque and black truffle soup. The lobster bisque was rich and flavorful, with generous chunks of lobster that kept me going back for more. I’m not usually a fan of black truffle, but even that soup won me over. The semi-seared tuna sashimi that followed was fresh and appetizing.
For mains, we had the crab pasta and black truffle pasta. I personally preferred the crab pasta — the sauce was rich, and the crab roe mixed in made it especially delicious. That said, truffle lovers should definitely try the black truffle pasta too. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, and the flavors were deep and satisfying.
Then came the cod and lamb rack. The cod had a crispy skin and soft, tender meat, paired beautifully with a wasabi miso sauce and edamame for a unique twist. As a lamb lover, I usually go for lamb racks over lamb shanks because they’re often dry and greasy — but not here! The lamb shanks was incredibly tender and flavourful, complemented perfectly by the house sauce and mashed potatoes.
To top it all off, I had the Pistacia Vera Tiramisu for dessert. It was my first time trying tiramisu with pistachio, garnished with edible petals — creative and absolutely delightful. A perfect ending to a wonderful birthday celebration.
Highly recommended for food lovers and...
