I went to this Mookata just now (30/11/23). We dined for 2pax and arrived at around 6.30pm. Overall the experience was BAD. Don’t trust the reviews praising about their waiters cause they give out promotion to those who leave a good review. Pros: - Sauce is nice - Pork taste is decent - Green curry soup is Ok - Place looks cute - Hostess service was ok Cons: - Bad service. The hostess showed us our seat, and the waitress only told us to scan the QR for menu. When we scanned the menu, there is no option for the unlimited buffet. We had to ask the waitress about it. She gave us a paper and pencil to fill our unlimited pork orders, and literally 5 seconds later another waiter took the pencil without saying anything. Service was so unfriendly and the staff keep playing their phone. When the waitress served our soup on the pot, she sniffed one of the soup. I felt uncomfortable. I think these soups were not fresh and she was “checking” to see if they’re still safe to eat.. - Noisy music on the upper place, so uncomfortable to eat with that kind of music - Pricing is misleading. They advertise 29.90 unlimited buffet, but our total bill was 170+ rm for 2 people.. - Food is only average - No tissue. If this is hawker stall I understand but you charge almost 100rm per pax and no tissue provided? - Gas for portable stove ran out in the middle of our dinner. No one even noticed until we called the waiter. Keep in mind no other tables were occupied on the upper floor except for two tables. - Charge service charge but we do everything ourselves. Take our own sauce, pour our own soup, even change the grill paper ourselves. They only put the pot and serve us the meat on the table. - Parking is confusing. We didn’t get chase by the Indian guy that was mentioned in a lot of reviews, but we had to park across the restaurant at the roadside. - Portion size. We paid for unlimited pork but I saw their menu beforehand. 1 plate of pork costs around 9rm. Each plate only consist of 3 thin piece of pork belly.. Avoid this restaurant at all costs! We were so disappointed as we wanted to try this place for a while now. If they could improve their service, we would give it another try. 170+ RM is not justifiable for average food, and waiters who could not care less. I wish they would explain to us about the pricing upfront, but looking at some reviews I guess this is their scheme.

My friends and family love love love the new upgrade of the ground floor Riverside market. It was my birthday, hence we got upgraded to a room. The service is top notch! Everything is easily requested with a press of a server button, the waiter/ waitress will come by to assist us. The room is so nice if u have children, instead of doing karaoke, we turned on YouTube for the kids to enjoy, and we adult had fun grilling and chit chatting. Very good for mummy’s night out!! ❤️ As to the upgraded downstairs, the food choices are unreal. Overall, we spend about RM50 per person. The mookata sets starts at RM29.90, we took the RM39.90 set that cames with a pork soup, 3 pork, vege, glass noodles, tofu and fish balls, it wasn’t enough for us. So, we opt for the many stalls to choose from at ground floor that easily top up our meal. I would definitely recommend the grilled pork neck (my son finished the entire portion of it) and braised pork leg rice from “Ken Thai” (about RM18.90 per dish). I personally love the Tom yam fried rice from “Tasty Thai”. My friend loves the mama mee, but I thought it’s a bit too sweet for me, I love it spicyyy. We have also tried “Chickin Box”, chicken popcorn is so nice when it’s piping hot. We also tried the bing fen downstairs, there’s quite a few options, tasted just like different kind of ai yu bing. There’s also a Bingsu in the mix of stalls too! We haven’t get to try the rest yet. Will probably drop by again in near future. ❤️ my son has been bugging me to bring him back again ever since we came back. 😂 At the end of the night, they even sang me a birthday song! The manager Lee made the night so much special! Thank u OHO and riverside market for such a wonderful night out! All in all, it is definitely one of my best birthday celebration, and a night to remember!! ❤️❤️❤️

My WORST mookata place in KL -100/10 🫥 1. Queue system : They ask me to wait 15 mins while they got tons of available table (but I actually waiting over 30mins) 2. It’s not RM29.90 as it said on @kl.foodie . So you have to at least order starter set (min RM39.90 for 2 ppl) and then pay extra RM29.90 per pax to have unlimited 40kind of pork/chicken (and the set for 2 is not even enough for one ppl) 3. No inform anything unless you asked : for the unlimited you will have a different menu (order via the paper) and the rest of the thing you have to order by scanning the QR code 4. 40Kind of pork but not included other kind of food (veggies / meat ball / noodle) 5. Sauces : Providing 4 kind of sauce but only available just 3 and no garlic (the not refill it) the worst part is it taste so bad - Thai style spicy sauce > Vinegar SOUR AF - Thai style sweet sauce > Sweet AF - and another one i try just a bit and it salty AF Based on the sauces I guess this is not a THAI MOOKATA 6. What’s the point of having 40kind of marinated pork? TBH Their pork quality is nice. But the sauce, the queue, the services make everything so bad. 7. FIX YOUR SAUCES or just buy it… in case you make it yourself just STOP! 8. OVER PRICE : most expensive mookata ever (if it taste good i wont complain but it bad so it not worth it) - 39.9 for starter set - 29.9 x 2 for unlimited - 11.9 x 2 for drinks - 6% GST - 10% Service charges TOTAL RM162 for 2 PAX = RM81 each (???) I wont go back there again :( Ps. Do not claim it’s THAI mookata… what you have nothing related to THAI mookata tho 🫤 Ps.2 do not believe @kl.foodie …. 🤑

Overall experience was ruined by a bunch of gangsters that think that they owned the entire road outside of this restaurant.

It’s a Friday night and my friends and I thought that Mookata would be a good idea thus we chose this place to satisfy our cravings.

We drove 4 cars in total and we decided to park along the street as it was rather empty. First friend parked relatively close to the restaurant and I managed to spot him as we reached about the same time. He was forced to pay a premium, at RM 10 for a roadside parking. I thought okay perhaps he was unlucky being spotted by unauthorised authority and asked to pay because of where he parked (close proximity to the restaurant).

Following to that, I parked about 50m away from him and these bunch of Indian gangsters actually identify everyone by motorbikes and force you to pay them RM 10 the moment you get down from your car / was about to get into the restaurant. I asked why do I have to pay as I parked rather far. They just answered me that ‘I jaga sini’ and forced you to pay them. I had no choice but to pay as I was alone as a single woman and I just wanted to avoid any trouble and inconvenience that they will create the moment I refuse to follow what they said.

My third friend reached the same time as me however she did not get the same treatment as us initially but was forced to pay after we finished our meal. These gangsters mocked her the moment she asked them to speak English. She did not understand what they said at first as she is a foreigner. They acted like they did not understand in return only after she paid them, they said they actually knew how to speak English but they didn’t want to until she paid them.

My last friend arrived and he refused to pay, only to get threatened that if they caught him going back, he would have to pay 3x of the initial amount requested. It’s really a day light robbery act and it totally spoilt my mood the moment I read the reviews and a lot of them actually experienced the same thing as my friends and I.

Due to this experience I guess it’s a no next time for me to visit this...

I don’t remember the last time I received service this bad…

We came at 7:30PM on a Saturday to an empty restaurant and still had to stand around and wait for a table “to be prepared” for 10 minutes. Once we were sat down, the “prepared” table in question was still bare, not even a menu for us to browse.

Once we were given a menu, we were told that we could input our order through a QR code plastered onto the table. We did so and waited around for 30+ minutes with not a single dish delivered to our table. We flagged down a waiter and asked why it would take half an hour for raw food to come out, just for him to say that he doesn’t have access to the site that is accepting our orders and the QR system had only been put in place 3 days ago so he had to check with the kitchen. It was only then that we FINALLY got our food, 45 minutes into sitting around like idiots. Someone offered us a free dessert to try and placate us but we declined. The only bit of good will shown by any staff to make up for poor service.

The food was fine. Nothing remarkable. The tom yum did not taste authentic at all and the various pork belly dishes were mediocre. Nothing to particularly complain or celebrate about. Cocktails were weak.

After we finished all of our meat, we put in another order of a few more dishes and made sure to check with the staff that it was processed. They confirmed. We waited another 30 minutes and our RAW food did not come out. We were so tired of waiting and the terrible service that we cancelled our order and asked for the bill.

When we received our bill, we noticed the drinks we ordered were omitted and thought it was a nice gesture from the staff to make up for how awful the service was. When we got to the cashier to pay, they then charged us for everything. Lol.

All in all we were there for about 1.5 hours there and spent 1+ hour of it waiting around for food, half of which didn’t even come. Will not come back, will not recommend, please go literally...
