Horizon — Restaurant in Langkawi Island

This place is for atmosphere and view but is the worst Ritz restaurant I ever encountered in terms of service quality as it is hugely understaffed. We ordered 2 cocktails but got no bar snacks and cold towels which is the standard for every table at Horizon. Even when we ask for bar snacks and cold towels, the waiter told us the bar snacks run out. At 6:30pm, there is no bar snacks left in a bar!? Around 7pm, seems they made new bar snacks as we saw there is more bar snacks serving the other tables. But if additional batch of bar snacks just been freshly made, in a hospitality industry with Ritz standard, the waiters should remember we have never been served bar snacks and provide to us when available. Then service got worse when I asked for bill, I waited for 20mins and no bill came. I even have to walk to the reception desk to ask for the bill and I waited for 10 more minutes standing at the reception desk to get my bill paid and get my Marriott points. The receptionist at the reception of the Horizon bar first let me wait for 3 minutes serving others and then approach me to print the bill which I asked 20 minutes ago. Then I told her I want to earn Marriott points so I show her my Marriott QR code. But without scanning my Marriott QR code, she walked away again serving others and I stand at the reception wait for another five minutes. Then she came back and scan my QR code to let me earn Marriott points. I wasted for 40minutes to simply get my bill paid. This is so ridiculous especially at a Ritz property. We encounter strong sea wind while we are having our dinner but the F&B team keeping us safe and well, hahaha. The foods served with nice presentation, just the sambal fish may need little improvement on the taste. Ling Lee and the team are attentive and to ensure the good services are maintained and we are taking good care by her and the team. Actually, we dropped by at Langkawi Kitchen at the first place but there were serving buffet on that night and we prefer to have ala-carte for our dinner so we choose Horizon Bar in the resort. Before heading to Horizon Bar, I did whisper to one the staff in Langkawi Kitchen that my friend’s birthday today. And they are doing pretty good in communication transferring the message across from one outlet to another outlet. Before we end our meal, Ling Lee led her team to sing birthday song with bringing a cheese cake to my friend. My friend got a big surprise and she keep wondering how do the Ritz Carlton team know about her birthday 😉 We are really enjoying the night with ambient atmosphere and friendly staffs, wonderful dinner, surprised birthday celebration, such a memorable night especially for the birthday girl. Went for sunset drinks and dinner for a birthday celebration. The staff were incredible in facilitating our request. The view was absolutely spectacular as well with an uninterrupted view of the ocean.

Great cocktails, good food and truly impeccable service. Would like to mention Clem for being a great hostess, helping to organize a surprise dessert with a candle with a card and got members of the staff to sing happy birthday without suspicion from the birthday boy!

Also would like to mention Ling Lee for making great recommendations for food and drinks and always being attentive, looking out for us.

One tiny suggestions - some form of air flow as it can get quite hot sitting out on the deck. Fans (hand held placed on the tables or central fans), or blowers etc would be great.
