No matter how many times we return, this sanctuary of luxury and warmth continues to raise the bar. ||||Under the inspired leadership of GM Mafalda Tavares and her exceptional team, the resort hasn’t just maintained its five-star reputation—it has redefined it. From the moment we arrived, we were swept into a world where every detail was curated with care, every smile felt genuine, and every experience was elevated beyond expectation. ||||We are so glad to see the improvements in the services rendered - from Buggy service which is smoother and more responsive, and the culinary offerings, were nothing short of spectacular. ||||Langkawi Kitchen has triumphantly returned to its roots, serving up flavors that sing with authenticity. Breakfast was a rainforest dream : the Deviled Egg sandwich and lobster-mushroom omelette were heavenly. Hats-off to Executive Chef Okan Demir and Chef Faiz for their tireless dedication. Special thanks to the Manager Qistina, and the rest at LK crew - Qashrina, Amar, Najwa, Awie, and Shahril for their impeccable service. Not to forget, Chef Faiz’s Pandan French Toast was a nostalgic masterpiece, and Chef Lokman deserves applause for keeping the kitchen humming with precision. ||||Another one on the list, the Beach Grill is still the undisputed champion of Langkawi dining. The grilled snapper with sambal chili Toyu and the ribeye steak were culinary poetry. Again, Chef Faiz’s banana fritters and satay were legendary, and the drinks—crafted by Farhan and Rizal—were refreshing works of art. ||||BG Manager Adam, and his dream team—Asri, Sha, Adip, Fatin, Faris, Udin, Aimin, Syed Daniel, Emma, Sasya @Sakinah, and Suffiyan—treated us like royalty. Adip’s surprise farewell lunch before our flight was a gesture that left us speechless. That’s not service—it’s soul. ||||Aside on the rooms, our villa was pristine and spacious, a haven of comfort. Mehedi’s rose petal welcome and the personalized banner made us feel truly cherished. The gym, with its top-tier Technogym equipment, kept us energized, while the trio of pools especially the adults-only infinity pool offered serenity with a view. ||||For Spa, the overwater spa pavilions were a slice of paradise, perfect for unwinding in nature’s embrace. Jacuzzi and sauna amenities are FOC for you to use. ||||Not to forget, The Ritz-Kids Club was a wonderland for our children. Zuha, Que, Fazli, and Juju orchestrated a magical lineup of activities from butterfly park strolls to arts and crafts activities such as paintings and diary making. Read moreWe have been fortunate to visit multiple unique and special resorts over the past few years, and the Ritz Carlton Langkawi stands out as one of the best properties we have ever visited!||Firstly, the setting is incredible. A short 15 minutes from the airport, the hotel is located in a lush rainforest setting adjacent to a beautiful beach - it feels remote but you are still very close to the local towns and other attractions. Incredible wildlife across the property, including birds, eagles, frogs, monkeys, dolphins, and even otters that we were able to see from our villa. Landscaping and care of the property is top notch, and in particular it looks incredible at night, with great lighting and feel overall. Rooms were excellent, we stayed in 3 different room types during our stay and every single one was incredible, even the lowest category room was fantastic. Great design, extremely spacious and all had amazing views, really some of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. Food was simply incredible. Great selection of cuisines, we mostly ate at the Beach Grill, which has to be one of my favourite restaurants I have ever visited. Almost every table has an amazing ocean view (like heavenly level amazing!!), and the service and quality of food was absolutely top notch. We really enjoyed the complementary appetizers that came with every meal (they even had a special one for the kids, which made them feel so fancy :). Sitting there at sunset, feeling the ocean breeze, listening to the sound of waves while enjoying really amazing food, it was incredible.||Breakfast was served in an incredibly well designed setting with really nice indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor tables made you feel like you were having a picnic in the middle of the jungle, just beautiful and so special. Food selection for breakfast was excellent, with top quality buffet and a la carte options, and service was stellar at every visit. In particular the local dishes on offer and fruits and fruit juices were incredible. ||Because this hotel has an adults only section, we were worried that family areas would feel less special. They didn’t at all. The family pool had the most perfect views, facilities, and service. Loungers were so comfortable. The pool temperature was lovely. Service was so kind and personalized too. Hand fans were given to you on arrival at the facilities, cold towels and iced waters provided frequently. The waiters came by with delicious cut up fruits for our girls several times, which was just so nice. The watermelon and orange infused water available for on demand consumption was also delicious. |We dropped off our twin girls at the kids club once just so we could have a look at the adults only pool and I’m happy to report that although it was special, the family only area was equally as special!! |The tiniest birds love to stop by the pool in late afternoons and take dips by jumping across quickly. It was so cute to watch.||Service overall across our stay was amazing, whether at the restaurants, check in, housekeeping or at the beach. Welcoming, warm but not intrusive, the quality of the team at this resort is next level and really made our stay special. Fitness facilities were also excellent, with a large, well equipped gym, and the kids club was also extremely good, with wonderful staff and really nicely designed facility. ||Big shoutout to Miky who greeted us at check-in in the most profesional way possible, it was the perfect introduction to the outstanding level of service that would be received during our stay. Also Khadga and Mahendra from housekeeping who prepared our rooms with so much care and thoughtfulness, from petal baths to surprises for our girls and treat bags left on our beds in the evenings. The attendant at the family pool, Alif at the Beach Grill, and Mustaqim at checkout were also great. And so was the gentleman helping out in the kayak rentals and the one proving the nature tour. Read moreIf you have an itch to visit Malaysia, you’ll have no shortage of choices to places to see. After much research, The Missus decided on Langkawi – one of the islands off the north coast of mainland Malaysia. She’s a ninja when it comes to finding amazing places to visit and stay, and the Ritz-Carlton resort on Langkawi certainly ticked the ‘amazing’ box.
Set in the rainforest on the Andaman Sea, the resort sprawls across more than 100 acres and offers a serene and private white-sand beach. Amenities include a gym, a luxurious spa, three restaurants, one buffet-style restaurant, four pools (including an infinity pool and a splash zone for children) and, of course, the beach – with its own little beach bar. The resort offers accommodations of all types, with more than 115 rooms.
From the moment you arrive, you are treated like an A-list celebrity. After a mildly sweaty journey from the airport, we arrived and were immediately taken to an outdoor area to check in. Frando presented us with trays with cool, lemongrass-scented towels, snacks and a refreshing tea while he handled check-in. The towels were a nice touch, and they worked wonders on making us feel refreshed and reinvigorated.
Given the resort’s size, the usual method of transport is via electric buggies – which are 6-seat, upscale golf carts. All staff are attentive, friendly, and always willing to answer questions about the history of Malaysia and of Langkawi. Daniel, who wound up driving us several times to various places in the resort during our stay, was a fantastic host and patiently answered our barrage of questions about Malaysia.
Breakfast is served in the Langkawi kitchen, which is the buffet-style restaurant. We got to know many of the amazing staff during breakfast, including Qistina and Lotte. Qistina asked one of the chefs to make us a special breakfast roti (with bananas and milo). It was a great gesture and made us feel welcome. All food at the breakfast buffet was incredible, and you could choose from several stations. The Malay station was our favourite.
For dinner, we alternated between Horizon and the Beach Grill. Horizon is built out over the beach, making you feel like you’re floating on the water while enjoying an excellent meal. Puva, Pedro, and Alif all provided excellent service and made us feel welcome. Alif mixed a special cocktail for us, and it proved to be excellent – light and refreshing.
The Beach Grill is a bit fancier than Horizon, with a menu heavy on locally sourced seafood. We highly recommend the Andaman prawns, which are split lengthwise and grilled over an open flame. You can choose from several sauces to accompany the prawns. All staff at the Beach Grill provide exceptional service and are extremely knowledgeable about the seafood on offer. Sukri was exemplary, as was Michelle. Kuhrail, the chef, visited our table and gave us even more detail on the philosophy behind the menu and the food’s preparation. Both Sukri and Kuhrail presented us with special dishes on the last night of our stay, and Michelle wrote us a lovely card thanking us for visiting the resort and the Beach Grill.
Finally, we would like to thank Miki and Bella of the Loyalty Program with Marriott Bonvoy. Miki arranged for a lovely (and delicious) fruit basket to be placed in our room upon our arrival, and Bella coordinated a special loyalty appreciation event on the beach. The event was superb, and Bella was a gracious and informative host.
