The Pavilion — Restaurant in Langkawi Island

I was totally impressed with the welcoming team of the Datai Langkawi from the moment we stepped out of our rental car. We were welcome by Mr Anas the Reception Duty Manager and Ms Ying ushered us to the Pool Villa.

Upon freshen up and enjoying our pool in the villa, we booked dinner for 3 at the Pavilion Thai Restaurant of the Datai Langkawi.

We were shocked to see the size of the table which was rather small and informed the Reception lady for a bigger table where she responded that she need to check with the supervisor on duty. Nevertheless, the waiter just came to our table and condescendingly insisted to take order first probably to gauge the dishes to be ordered.

We asked again for a bigger table after put in the order but the waiters were instructed to rearrange the small table which knowingly be sufficient.

Unfortunately, we had to be stern and insisted for a bigger table from the incompetent supervisor after half of the dishes arrived and it was very uncomfortable to dine in that condition. We had to get up from our seat upon arrival of the food which was rather humiliating as the other patrons were looking at us with pity eyes. The supervisor was not even care to apologise initially and made trivial of the altercation.

It was totally unprofessional and plain rude. Initially we tried to be understanding that it could be full house that night but there were many empty tables even after 45 minutes in the restaurant. To make things worse, a group of 3 customers just arrived also made a complaint that the table was small and was given straight away a bigger table.

It was such a pity on our 1st day at the Datai Langkawi we had to contend with such situation.

Dining at The Pavilion was one of the highlights of our stay at The Datai. The ambiance was incredible as we sat perched high above the rainforest canopy. As someone who loves Thai food and often goes to great lengths to try Thai restaurants all over the world, I was extremely impressed by the quality and authenticity of Pavilion. The Green Curry and Massaman Lamb Shank Curry dishes were absolute standouts — rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. I will be thinking about those meals for a long time. Had one of the most memorable and amazing dining experience at The Pavilion. Food was truly good, very well done and flavourful. But beyond food, we also experienced the most impressive service by Hazril, who not only serve us with the biggest smile, but also with a big heart.
