Perhentian Kuih Kampong (Semabok) — Restaurant in Malacca

We were looking for a place for lunch when arriving on our trip to Melaka. After searching for some places, Perhentian Kuih Kampong came out as our choice to try.

This places offers an assortment of Malay Kuehs, which is rare in a single shop. We say the Kueh hit the spot quite nicely without being overly priced, not too sweet, and with the right “lemak-ness”. 😅 (but of course this depends on individual taste buds lah).

We ordered the Nasi kerabu with grill chicken and Nasi ayam (chicken rice) For the Nasi kerabu, Rice and the gravy and vege condiments were nice with the right spiciness, but the chicken was a bit dry. The Chicken rice was however not quite up to the palate but “alright”. It should be juicy, and the right lack the fragrance of the “chicken rice”.

In conclusion, this is a reasonably acceptable place for a good lunch with the variety of options, and can be tried out on your next visit to Melaka. Quite a few patrons were seen ordering “ikan Assam pedas”… was thinking… 🤔 is this their popular dish? 😉 Note: it’s about 15 mins drive away from the city Centre in a place...

You must go to Perhentian Kuih Kampong when you're in Melaka! My husband and I went twice - once in the afternoon at 5pm and once in the morning at 8.30am.

In the afternoon, we bought a few popiah basah (beef and chicken). They were sooo delicious!! 👍 The popiah is different than the ones we usually know of - they are dipped with a peanut sauce. I would come here again just for the popiah basah!

In the morning, we got nasi lemak. They were also so, so good! Sambal was just nice. 👍

We also tried the many varieties of kuih - kuih lapis, lopis, seri muka, karipap, putri ayu - everything was lovely!

Highly recommended.

We were there on 2nd day of CNY. Arrived somewhere around 1100.ayam golek was just about to ready for serving.no more kuah curry for roti canai so it was replaced with kuah asam pedas instead. The kids loved it.ayam golek, popiah basah, mee rojak. This you have to personally order with the seller. Others you may order together with your food like asam pedas set, chicken rice, noodle, laksa etc.. For dessert/kuih muih you will have to get a plate for dine in or a container for take away. All are prepared over at the kuih counter/table. Do park you vehicle opposite of the restaurant. Rm5 per entry. The attendant will even stopped the traffic flow for us to cross the road. Quite...
