Loved every single dish that arrived at our table. We ordered the hai lam noodle, char kuey teow, toasted bread with kaya and butter, and 2 Hainanese chicken chop (total around rm 20 per person INCLUDING drinks. As a PJ person, wow, love it). We went there on a Wednesday and there were not many people. Parked right opposite.
Hai lam noodle was good. The noodles were springy and chewy. Boss told us the noodles were from Sepang. The chicken was juicy and not super dry, along with the prawns and the fish cake, delicious.
The char kuey teow had LOTS of wok hey. Could smell it the moment a friend touched the noodles to distribute it. Love it. It had a very strong white pepper taste as well without the sandy texture so it really suit my taste. My friend also said she'd definitely come again just to eat the char kuey teow.
The hainanese chicken chop is authentic. All the ones I had before all had a super crispy and hard sort of deep fried batter coating but this had a more egg white base. It tasted like the chicken was wrapped in an omelette. The texture of the outside was also like the texture of a Thai fried omelette. Was worried ordering 2 for 3 people including 2 other noodles dishes would be too much but because of the light batter coating, we could comfortably eat it all.
The toast was nice as well. Not too thick and crispy. Good ratio of butter, kaya, and bread. The salted butter helped to bring out the sweetness of the kaya without it being too sweet and with the texture of the crispy bread (wasnt too crispy until it hurt my mouth), I almost asked for seconds. No picture because it was the first to arrive and was polished off before I remembered to take any...
Read moreMy go to weekend breakfast. My standard order Kopi gelas Teh C Nasi lemak bungkus Roti bakar butter Roto kukus butter Telur ayam kampong
The kopi is one of the best for me. Even better than many other kopitiam I've been. Creamy, not too sweet, good balance between sourness and bitterness.
The rotis come with generous amount of butter. Nasi lemak is standard.
If you don't know where to have your breakfast, you should try this place. They are the 4th gen from a long history of Fung...
Read moreWhen I first bite the chicken chop, it tasted totally different than any chicken chop I’ve ever tried, it has a different flavour like a hidden taste in it. The nice brown gravy pour on top of the chicken chop was the original sauce how our Hainan descendants made during the British colonial. Chicken chop coated with egg, green peas, thin sliced wedges, onion, and a piece of tomato. It is confirm that this is the Authentic Hainanese Chicken Chop. Today is a special day to...
