Go to Bentong frequent enough and you'd find some hidden gems along the way. While not as popular as those wantan mee, chee cheong fun or hawker fares when it comes to this town more famous for its day-trip activity.. I would sometimes search for other alternatives.

El's Kitchen is located at the back of a row of shophouses in Bentong, making it hard to be noticed. I coincidentally found it when I wanted to eat something different - and after the first visit, the rest was history.

It's more like a makeshift brick structure covered with zinc roofing with fan as ventilation. It could get stuffy when the weather is hot, but beyond that I love their food - probably the best western food in Bentong (personal opinion only ya).

◾Sirloin steak - grilled medium and served with salad, tomato, onion ring, sausage and brown sauce on the side. ◾French lamb rack - I hardly see lamb rack beyong Klang Valley so imagine my joy to find it in Bentong. Flavour and doneness were on pointm ◾Western chicken chop - classic western food with the meat texture being tender and moist. ◾Smoked duck with mango sauce - another favourite of mine here. The mango sauce was a bit sweet to my liking though - I'll just ask to serve separately next time as the sauce doesn't go well with my wine. ◾fries - something for the young ones to munch on while waiting for the main dishes. ◾grilled seafood - lovely flavour but it'd be perfect if they tone down the spiciness a little bit.

As they cook the dishes individually, the waiting time can be long so it pays to go earlier. They...

Food was so good. We had the Angus ribeye (medium rare) and it was cooked to perfection. The French rack was another highlight and not mentioning the mixed seafood.
