The LEMUNI — Restaurant in Pahang

Late post from a visit in early April. A bit of effort to get there, but I would highly recommend visiting this place if you are happy to just chill, take the time to appreciate the philosophy and the vision of the people behind this place and have a love for Malay food. They embody the farm-to-table and eat local concept (they have acres of land growing most of the produce served, rear chickens, and serve fish from local river fishermen). The owners also took effort to prepare the dishes in a healthier way while trying their best to maximise flavour. This includes serving a healthier rice option specially imported for their use (see if you can taste the difference).

Needless to say the ambience is amazing. The owners took painstaking effort to restore and relocate the Istanas from the original position in Trengganu, and created this garden that's hard to not be awed by.

The place is very popular, so do book, and understandably, the people working there were busy. But we did not feel neglected. We found them to be efficient and very approachable. We managed to squeeze in though we walked in, accepted that we had to wait for our food or just come back later. We bought drinks and some kueh, sat bersila under one of the Istanas, and just enjoyed the going ons in the place. The food came at the time they said it would. We were impressed.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food. I can't recall which set we ordered, but devoured everything including all the ulams, sambal and tempoyak. It was finger licking good. We were privileged to have the opportunity to chat with the owners, who shared with us the different ulams served, and they pointed out to us which trees the ulam and the durians for the tempoyak was harvested from for today's meal. The dishes came together very well - delicious and complemented each other.

We spent almost the whole afternoon there just chilling, chatting with the people working there and the other diners, and watched the activities about the place. We were not rushed despite the busyness. Kids were having such a fun time roaming around, giving sayang to the cats. They were spotted exploring and playing hide and seek, while mom and dad enjoyed their food and chat. Some adults rested at the hammocks about.

Perhaps we were fortunate, but we really appreciated our time there and felt it was special. For RM75 set for two, with food lovingly prepared by makciks with quality ingredients harvested earlier that day, in such a lovely environment, we think it is well worth it.

The business is also a family affair, with family members who hold day jobs traveling from all over Malaysia to serve us on the weekend. It is indeed a privilege. You would be surprise who is serving you and what their day jobs are . Yes.. that includes the pakcik managing...

Came here for mother’s day celebration. Preordered half of our order in advance. Arrived just before 12pm, was one of the few customers already there so had a choice to sit wherever we wanted. They did not seem to have reserved a table for us, but because the restaurant was still empty it wasn’t a problem for us. Proceeded to add on other items to our order, and had to wait around 30 mins before the food started arriving. It wasn’t that big of a deal for us, but I suppose if you had already preordered earlier you would think you wouldn’t have to wait for your food.

As we ate, we added more food & drinks to our order, and we had to wait for 30mins+ for the additional orders to arrive. They have a limited number of staff so if you come during lunch time do be prepared to wait. The waiters were all courteous and apologetic though, so it was hard to be upset.

Food was good- ordered set Selatan and set Timur, sup gearbox (yummy) , bread pudding (recommended!), pengat pisang, sago gula melaka. Ulam & sambal was free flow. Nothing bad to say about the food, all met/ exceeded expectations.

We even got to try the Abiu fruit fresh from the restaurant’s garden. Would def recommend if given the option to order. Really added to the experience of dining in a unique setting.

Place is beautiful & well kept- one of the very few malay restaurants around with good ambience and good food. For 5 pax we paid a total of rm350, which isn’t too bad at all.

Getting to the restaurant was easy enough. Road from KL was decent enough, although the last 400 metres consists of a steep slope & narrow road- nothing a Bezza/ Myvi wouldn’t be able to handle. Parking is ample right across the restaurant. If anyone requires a wheelchair, they allow you to disembark right in front of the restaurant.

Surau is available on the 1st floor, and you can choose to sit on the floor, kampung style, upstairs.

Would come back and would recommend- just be prepared to wait...

Fruit & Beverage: Watermelon, Coffee, Tea, Lemongrass & Blue Peas Flower drinks

For Lunch there are 2 Slot: Slot 1 : 12pm - 1.30pm Slot 2 : 2pm - 3.30pm, Choices of Northern Set or Southern Set are being served. If you need extra dishes, there's Ala-carte menu as well.

Operation from Fri - Sun, Closed from Mon-Thu Reservation are required before you can dine-in.
