This place is called New Ghee Seng Seafood restaurant but it is actually a very old place. I have been eating at this place for decades but recently due to MCO and ever since, I think I totally did not eat here at all. So naturally I was super excited to come back here to savor the delicious seafood at a pretty reasonable price.
We ordered steam tomyum fish, prawn mantis salted egg, fried kangkung belacan, kam heong balitung, steam ginger kappa and fried chicken. They all taste so delicious. If I need to name my top dish, it has to be the steamed tomyum fish and followed by balitung.
It used to be pack back in the days but today when I went (Friday dinner), there were still a couple of empty tables. So I guess going on weekdays for dinner should be okay? I won't wanna try going for dinner on weekends.
And here actually there is one more specialty. The satay without sauce and it is super aromatic and delicious! Must try if you are not aware of this. The satay stall is actually located at an area opposite this restaurant so either you walk there to order or wait for someone to come to you to ask for satay order.
All in all, definitely enjoyed the food here. I find it...
Read moreIt’s been many years since I last dined at this seafood restaurant, and unfortunately, it has turned into a "black shop" (dishonest business). The management has changed, and the staff now doesn’t even speak the local dialect. I strongly advise against coming here for seafood.
The seafood prices are not clearly displayed, and the verbally quoted prices differ when it’s time to pay. Be cautious! Last night, I went to this restaurant for dinner. After repeatedly confirming with the server that the Silver Mantis Shrimp (濑尿虾) was priced at $32 per kilogram, I was shocked to see the bill charging $320 per kilogram instead.
When I asked the cashier for a more detailed receipt, they were visibly nervous and wrote something sloppy. I have photos as proof. I urge the authorities to enforce a rule requiring all seafood restaurants to clearly display prices for fresh seafood to prevent incidents like this from...
Read moreA well-known seafood restaurant at Bukit Tambun. Now no longer moderately priced food and furthermore it's poorer in taste too. We ordered Sweet & Sour Crab with mantou, Boiled Octopus with fried garlic, Balitong, Fried longevity noodles, fried green dragon vegetables, Curry Prawn in bread, Dry Satay and 7 spikes snails. All the dishes are fresh except the prawns which are fibery (probably NOT wild but farmed prawns or kept too long in freezer) and the notable dish is the Balitong which is succulent, slightly spicy and nutty. Many dishes were NOT available this time around like the Green Dragon vegetables, Balitong, Seven Spike Snails and many more. The place was packed with crowd but it was still airy and NOT stuffy (picture taken was over 9pm). Suitable for family, friends, colleagues and crowd above 4 pax. If you prefer NOT so crowded are during weekdays where the food are more refined, tasty...
