If you are hankering for seafood chu char, then you won't go wrong eating here. The food is generally delicious. Don't expect much from the decor though. Just a simple coffee shop vibe with round tables arranged quite closely together.
The only thing that gives me the brrr is the amount of flies flying around. Just close both eyes and imagine that they don't exist.
As far as food goes, the asam prawn is deliciously sour but for the price I paid I kind of expected slightly bigger prawns. The crab is fresh and the gravy mouth watering. Again the crab size a little underwhelming. Fortunately the taste was superb.
The fried squid however, was perfectly done. Crispy minimal batter with succulent chewy meat in between. Same with the octopus. Nicely steamed and well seasoned.
However, the claypot was a little average. The taste was average and the content subpar. As for the tofu, even though I find the tofu itself well cooked and the gravy having a great sticky consistency, it just felt as if it was missing something to elevate the dish.
The easy parking makes this place an easy place to access. However, due to its popularity, I would advise you to reach here before 7pm to avoid waiting for an...
Read moreFirst time visiting, a shop that can be quite hard to find as it's at the very edge of the Nibong Tebal. This inner corner location boasts a customer base quite impressive where it can even be hard to find a parking, therein lies a probable cause for it no?
After trying many dishes, I can understand why this place is so popular, the steam and fried squid is fresh, slightly crunchy and has that raw flavour that can be hard to find. The fried tofu is also excellent 👌, tender and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The pork knuckle is their signature and I can understand why , it's crispy and full of fatty goodnesss with a nice Thai chili sauce accompanying.
For the decent dishes include the fish, sayurs and frog, nothing outstanding but not too bad either.
The ambra juice is delicious as well, not to sour. The Teh o ping is nice but too sweet.
The service staff is quite good but they are easily overwhelmed, but in good ol small town fashion you can self service 😂. However, the atmosphere and seating is quite tight and hot.
Overall, great food all around!

Read moreI was recommended to come to this shop by a Penangite who stays in the island. I was told that he visits this shop once every two weekly.
I wasn't sure if I have set such high expectation for this restaurant or what... But I didn't find it worth the hype.
The popular dish here is none other than the fried pork knuckle. I'm not a big fan of this dish, but yes it is indeed quite nice. It has crispy skin and the meat is tender. The meat is so tender they fall off bone very easily. However there's still some those usual pig smell in the layer of fat.
We also ordered a steamed squid. The squid is steamed / boiled to perfection. The flesh is not chewy. I would love it more with a little bit more seasoning.
Bitter gourd fried egg was normal. I have had better ones in many other places. So this serves no surprise for me.
The place has a lot of flies. And they are so annoying. You are spending most of the time shoo-ing the flies than you are eating.
Overall it deserves a 3.6/5. As someone from Penang island, I feel that this is...
