From freshly baked french pastries to burnt cheesecakes and pastas, this cafe has it all. But know that pastries are their speciality. Despite the sheer variety of pastry options on their menu, you can expect every one of them to be flaky, delicious, and quite filling at that. They also have a decent selection of drinks with their coffee being particularly good. I don’t really want to recommend anything specific since it’s all so good, but their mango santan croissant, egg mala puff, and pasta carbonara are otherworldly. It’s also a great place for large groups. I visited with a group of 8, the staff were lovely and didn’t hesitate in accommodating us. We were all very comfortable sitting in their upstairs dining area. Service was fast and our food and drinks came within minutes. Incredibly, all 8 of us loved the food without a single critique – that’s no easy feat. It was rather busy, but Farra was very friendly and quick at explaining their menu items. Her recommendations were perfect too. Should you visit if you ever find yourself in Ipoh? Yes. Will I drive 3 hours just for another taste of their pastries? Without a doubt, yes. It may not be the cuisine most folks come to Ipoh for, but you’d be hard pressed finding pastries as good as theirs anywhere else.

I recently visited the Helmet Cafe and had mixed feelings about my experience. The food at this cafe is undeniably great. I ordered the mushrooms set, scones set, and three pastries, and all of them were delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and presentation of the dishes. However, I was disappointed with the service provided. When I requested assistance in carrying my order to my table, the staff refused, stating that they were busy. However, I couldn't help but notice that there were only two occupied tables in the cafe at that time. Furthermore, when I asked for additional serviettes, they only provided me with a total of four, one per person. Although I appreciate the senior staff member who noticed my dissatisfaction and offered me a free strawberry bowl as a form of service recovery, I was already upset by the poor service I had encountered. It is disheartening to feel unappreciated as a customer, especially when spending a considerable amount of money. In conclusion, while the food at the Helmet Cafe is exceptional, the lackluster service left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope they can improve their service standards to match the quality of their culinary offerings.

Helmet Cafe is a haven for motorcycle enthusiasts and coffee lovers alike. The cafe's unique theme is evident from the moment you step in. The walls are adorned with a collection of vintage helmets, each with a story to tell. It's not just decor; it's a testament to the owner's passion! Beyond the visual feast, Helmet Cafe offers a delectable spread. Their coffee is a must-try - smooth, rich, and expertly brewed. The mushroom soup is another star, boasting a depth of flavor that's truly impressive. And their croissants? Flaky, buttery, and next-level delicious!! What truly elevates Helmet Cafe has to be the exceptional service. The family-run atmosphere creates a warm and welcoming ambiance. The staff is friendly, attentive, and happy to share stories about the cafe's collection. To top it all off, the upstairs seating offers a stunning view of the iconic limestone mountains, making it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Helmet Cafe is a remarkable place in Ipoh. It's a place to indulge in fantastic coffee, delectable food, and a motorcycle-themed atmosphere filled with history and warmth. If you're in Ipoh, don't miss this hidden gem! Will surely be coming back!
