We ate here on two days, and had a really mixed experience with food, but staff were mostly friendly. The fried chicken noodles, vegetable curry, roti canai, and sweet and sour chicken were all good; they cost about 15-18RM each. However the 'butter chicken in gravy' was awful, literally tasted like sick and we thought we were going to throw up. The 'seafood vermicelli in gravy' was, whilst similarly named, nothing like the chicken, but almost as bad. It had a gloopy soupy sauce with no flavour (other than fishy fish). The hash browns were expensive for only 2 very oily small ones, and the cheesecake whilst pricy was good. Also, the old male owner was sitting in the corner watching us eat, and seemed rude to the young female staff which was a concerning sign. The rest of the staff and servers were kind and helpful. Cute dog. Overall good value and great location, and there's a wide range of food options so just don't go with butter chicken or gravy noodles and...
Read moreMy family and I rented accommodations near this restaurant and stayed for two days. The food is flattering, really tasty and of a high level. I would definitely recommend it to my close friends. We went back many times. The day before we returned to Kota Kinabalu, my daughter developed a fever of 40 degrees in the middle of the night. Around 1:00 a.m., we went out into the dark street to call for help, but it was pitch black and there was no sign of anyone. The store was still lit. With great anxiety, I explained the situation to the store owner, who kindly called a relative in the middle of the night to share medicine with me and told me to call him even in the middle of the night if it did not work. I was saved to the point of tears. Thank you so much. My daughter was hospitalized in Kota Kinabalu, but managed to leave and return home. I would like to carry on this debt of gratitude and repay it to others in the same way. I will never forget...
Read moreWe stayed 4 nights at Sepilok B&B about 50m away. White House Bistro was our Go-To for a few of our meals. Everything was always freshly cooked to order with good "wok-hey" and hearty portions. Their food was easily better than the two fancier restaurants Banana Cafe and Nest in the Sepilok area that we tried. For anything equivalent or for a bigger spread, you'd have to go all the way to Sandakan (which we did on two different days). Friendly staff, always smiling. They open till about 10pm. On one night, we chatted with one local multi-generational Chinese family who were there having their week night meal there. They were childhood friends of...
