I have been longing for good vegetarian Korean food. Tried a few places and was looking for taekbokki. Found Japwest from Google search.
First glance at the menu, I fell in love. Made it a point to try it. I love jjangmeyeon, tried vegan version at another premium restaurant.
Unfortunately, the jjangmeyeon here fell short of my expectations. Sauce was not thick, I stead was runny. I remember Tzu Yang's video which mentioned a thick and glistening sauce is indication of a good jjangmeyeon. I feel Japwest can do better.
Also had the perilla leaf wrapped chicken as appetizer. I could not taste the perilla leaf, probably because it was deep dried. Will look for fresh perilla leaf based dishes the next time if they have.

Balsamic shitake photo shown plenty portion because price slightly high. Funny is when served on our table just only fews button of shiitake around like 4 or 5 pieces . Lasagna is the worst and it doesn’t look like a lasagna and it’s taste blend . My wife named it banjir lasagna . Cooled tamago thought is serving with hot. Japchae means noodles mix with vege or optional ingredients. Not stir fry noodle!(it makes weird ) wet taste and blend . Overall all just my opinion . Hope owner keep it up upgrade food taste and plating . Attitude...
