I recently visited Satay Hakimi for the second time, and I must admit, I was quite disappointed this time around. While the flavor of their satay remains excellent, with a perfect blend of sweetness and savory notes that truly deserves recognition, there were some notable issues that detracted from the overall experience.
The most significant issue I encountered was the excessive char on the satay. Although a slight char can add a nice smoky flavor, in this case, it was overly burnt, making some of the skewers less enjoyable and potentially unhealthy when ingesting burnt charcoal residue. This over-charred quality was a notable disappointment, as it overshadowed the wonderful flavors of the satay itself.
My experience at the restaurant was marred further when it came time to settle the bill. We need to pay separately for the satay stall and the main restaurant. There was no issue with the restaurant's billing process; however, the satay stall's payment system was a source of major frustration. Many patrons, including myself, found ourselves in a situation where we wanted to settle the bill but were asked to wait for at least 15 minutes.
This delay in payment was unnecessary and left a sour taste in my mouth. It gave the impression that the staff was not particularly interested in taking payments and almost made it seem as if they wanted us to run away without paying. The situation was further exacerbated when I noticed that a customer in front of me was able to pay using a QR code. When it was my turn to settle the bill using the same method, the staff made an angry face and questioned whether I had the money. I had to forcibly show my QR code to complete the transaction.
This experience left me feeling quite disappointed, as the excellent quality of the satay was overshadowed by the issues with the charred skewers and the frustrating payment process at the satay stall. Satay Hakimi has the potential to be a standout establishment, but these issues should be addressed to ensure a more satisfying and efficient...
Read moreWe are very disappointed and upset with the service provided by Hakimi Sate. We ordered sate as a catering service for a big event and he agreed to it. Then on the day when we collected it, we found that the store was closed. When we called to ask for our order, he just said we are closed today and to purchase from another vendor. We questioned why he did he accept our order if he was closed?? He couldn’t answer. This isnt the first time we were disappointed - the first time we ordered from them, they promised to have the sate ready at 4pm. When we came to collect it, the sate wasn’t ready and my brother had to wait 1.5-2 hours for it. Again, this was for an event thus causing great delay. Please improve your service otherwise many people will no longer purchase from you. Such a shame. Please everyone ensure your order timings with them before...
Read moreFirst of all, the restaurant is a bit dirty and not very hygienic so it loses a star for that. Service is fast and quick.
I didn't try other things on the Tomyam menu or Bakso stall (next time bc seems like every table is ordering bakso), only the satay and otak otak.
We were fortunate to get our satay fast in under 15 mins. The normal waiting time is 30 mins-1 hour. Both the meat and chicken satay was juicy and succulent with right amount of marinade. A little sweet but delicious. The satay were huge than the normal average with a good ratio of meat and fat. What made it nicer was the peanut sauce. The peanut was not fully grinded and you can still taste it instead of just a tinge. Price is very reasonable for the quality.
This place is easily in my top 3 of best satay places. No need to go to the Kajang City...
