Hadramawt Castle — Restaurant in Shah Alam

A couple of days ago, my wife and i came and tried this spot. We ordered the mixed appetiser, mixed grill, grill fish and breads and sauces. Fish was fresh and cooked beautifully but their kebabs were over salted and the rest were passable. My main critique is we waited 1 1/2 hr for food to arrive, their aircon was lousy and hot, a lot of flies around. We saw many people leave and many unhappy with the long wait and serving time. Waiters were helpful and friendly. Good thing is they have the community behind them which support them greatly by take outs and dine ins but they need to increase kitchen hands and service and clean up the place. First time trying Yemeni dishes. It's iftar time. Few things to comment. 1st, the food. Ordered Mixed Grill of beef and chicken, a portion of Zurbian rice, an Arabic salad, fruit juice, and Masoob as desert. Taste wise, well seasoned for the main dish, nice rice and salad. Masoob, as in description is bread and banana baked and topped with cream and black seed. The sweetness of the cream is nice. However, if the bread can be more sweet, could be better. 2nd, the environment. Good environment, clean and cozy. 3rd, staff. Staff are very friendly, knowledge on what they serve, polite as well. Will surely return to try the other menu...

This was certainly an unexpected surprise as it was one of the few Middle Eastern restaurants that was available on Grab Delivery, especially when it was so difficult to find quality Yemeni/Arabic food since the lockdown.

Food was excellent, with myself having made consecutive delivery orders from this restaurant three times in a row having the lamb kebab, olive salad, mixed grill, tabbouleh and the grilled chicken.

The owner is very friendly, and goes out of his way to provide excellent, personalised service. Deliveries are usually quite fast.
