Shell Out® Setia Alam — Restaurant in Shah Alam

A decent seafood place in Setia Alam. This is my second time buying from this restaurant and decided to post my review this time.

The place isn’t great but isn’t bad. Having only taken away twice, the two experiences have been very different though twice is probably too little to judge on a restaurants consistency.

The first time we ordered a mixture of crawfish, crabs, mussels and clams. The crawfish and crab were decent but my gosh were the mussels and clams bad. I literally mean foul. They were so bad that we had to discard them. Totally inedible. The clams were filled with sand that crunched your teeth with every bite. The mussels tasted like they have been accidentally left under the sun for days and went bad then cooked with the strong sauce to try and mask the rotting taste.

Today we decided to just have the crawfish which was very good and opted not to order the others again as we were severely put off. However, the garlic bread is absolutely awful. Soaking in butter and soggy....

Overall I would highly recommend their crawfish and I don’t think I will ever try the other dishes again.

I am rating this place at 1 due to my bad experience dealing with the outlet on 9 april 2023. We wanted the combo set which comes with sweet potato fries and my request was to change the fries to normal potato fries but the outlet insist that we cant. I dont think our request was unreasonable and other outlet like putrajaya can actually do it, so i dont see the point why they cant do the same. This is the problem when restaurants hire non local who cant even think critically to solve basic problems, retain and attract customers. I will not visit shell out ever again. The best customer service i've ever been at restaurant. Thank you Jann and Amin for entertainment me and my husband for our 2nd anniversary. They also explain details about everything. They keep our place clean and neat, also Jann put so much effort to take our photo hehe. Thank you Jann! Thank you Amin for making the drinks very nice. I had soda lychee.
