I recently visited Day to Day Restaurant in Puchong and thought I’d share an honest take on the experience.
First off, the place is very crowded—clearly a popular spot. But with popularity comes a downside: finding parking is a real challenge. Be prepared to circle a few times or walk a distance.
The restaurant offers an extensive menu covering local, Indian, Western, and Malaysian dishes, so there's definitely no lack of variety. It caters well to the general public with familiar comfort food that appeals to diners from all walks of life. That said, the menu is largely text-based with no images, which makes it difficult to know what to expect when your food arrives—some visual cues would really help manage expectations.
Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Staff seemed overwhelmed and the setup gave off a casual “mamak-style” vibe. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, the lack of attentiveness and coordination was noticeable. It would be great if the staff wore uniforms to distinguish them from the crowd, and for hygiene purposes, wearing gloves and masks—especially when serving—should be made a standard.
As for the food and drinks? They were just average. Nothing particularly stood out, and personally, I wasn’t a fan. The dining setup also felt too cramped for comfort, with tables and chairs packed too close together, making it a bit hard to enjoy the meal peacefully.
Overall, Day to Day Restaurant has potential due to its variety and location appeal, but it could really benefit from improvements in service, hygiene, and layout for a better...
Read moreFinally managed to get to this restaurant! We got there early at around 11:30am. Parking was simple and manage to get a space right in front of the restaurant. This banana leaf restaurant offers both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Also AC or non AC seating. We ordered the Banana leaf rice and opted for the Indian Rice that is similar to Calrose rice. We got 3 different vegetables- boiled cabbage, long beans and some other greens. All tasted very nice. This was followed with some hot rasum. It was nice and sour and helped build my appetite even more! Some lime chutney, coconut chutney, a couple of dried salted chilli and a generous plate of poppadoms followed. As usual, I split my rice in to 3 portions and had each portion drizzled with dhal, fish curry and chicken curry. The dhal was rich and creamy, fish curry was not as sour as I like and the chicken curry was also pretty good. For side orders we got the fried Tenggiri (mackerel) which came piping hot. It was fresh and succulent. The chicken masalla was good too. but what was outstanding was the mutton masalla. It was tender, well seasoned and sweet. Before I go on, I just want to say that the dishes here are prepared with little curry powder but i feel the spices and condiment are freshly ground. There is also not too much MSG used. So the flavours were not in your face but rather subtle and mild. Closer to home cooking than the commercial tamarind, curry powder MSG driven sauces you find in many other places. Recommended but do go early. By 12:30pm, the restaurant was getting...
Read moreA place of feast that you shouldn't miss!!! Almost all their dishes are awesome. There are various types of nasi/mee/bihun/kuew tiao goreng, rotis, apam, puttus and also western food. Most of the food here are named after the latest Tamil/English film. Their dishes are as unique as their names. My personal favorites are nasi goreng Mawar, anjaan, katthi, vivegam, kabali, vip2 and the list goes on because they cater each and every menu exclusively. They do cater all items for vegetarians and non vegetarians. Their kopi tenggelam is awesome. I tried that a few times, everytime it tasted differently but still I love it.
They are eveready to serve you what your taste buds craving for. Just tell them exactly what you feel like eating, sour/spicy/sweet/bitter and they will suggest you the best. They have both buffet and also orders at your preference. You will want to try their Banana leaf servings too, absolutely scrumptious. It is worth to spend on all sorts of food here.
They have non aircond and aircond hall at your preference too. They have baby chairs too. You are welcomed to have small scale event here. Limited parking area, but there are ample of space at the road side if the parking...
